Please be careful when you shop there, and since the store cannot perform its duties in providing fresh, unspoiled food, please make sure to check the expiry dates for everything, and be prepared to be treated with hostility (or to suffer from potential complications when eating expired food). As Lune W. mentioned, the store refuses to offer a refund when you return with the goods you found were expired, and is rude when you talk to them about it. In my case, I also realised my food was expired (it is August, and it expired in July!) after they were downright impossible to cook (the noodles could not soften, and had a plasticky feel about them), and the staff was unprofessional when I went back to inform the store the next day. Two main concerns: firstly, what would the supermarket do if I had returned with the pack of noodles unopened? I had a receipt, and the noodles could not have been offered to anyone else in good conscience, in any case. Would they have resold it, and is that why they wanted it back unopened? Was I supposed to distrust their ethics enough in the first place and check that I am paying for unspoiled food -- something that is a basic expectation for every store? Secondly, it is chilling to think that the staff cared more about making their customers feel uncomfortable and unwelcome than ensuring that they are upholding proper food safety standards.
Blaming me for opening the package of food, raising her voice at me, and then gossiping about me ("What does she want me to do? She opened the noodles!") in front of another customer in Cantonese, which I understood, made for completely unprofessional and hostile behaviour. I went in expecting a professional conversation that would lead to an apology at the very least, but was met with the cashier raising her voice at me, claiming she cannot do anything, right after I calmly explained my situation, which then led to my frustration and distress.
Please do not make my mistake of trusting the store, expecting customer service, and ultimately, shopping there in the...
Read moreI came here to read reviews, hoping to find someone who had a similar experience to mine today. Based on a friend's recommendation, I visited the store on Mullerstrasse. Since my internet connection was poor and I couldn't use Google Translate, I was having trouble deciding which type of shrimp to buy. However, I was delighted to find banana leaves at the store, which was the reason I went there in the first place. While I was shopping, I noticed that the cashier kept watching me closely, as if she suspected me of stealing something. At one point, she even shouted at me, asking what I wanted. I had to navigate the store cautiously, taking my time to choose the items I needed. On my second encounter with her, I realized she was only behaving this way towards me and not towards anyone else. This made me feel deeply hurt and uncomfortable, even though I didn't want to attribute it to racial discrimination, considering that I am black. I consider myself to be one of the most honest people I know. Now that I am back home, I felt compelled to share this review because I can't stop replaying the incident in my mind, and it continues to make me incredibly sad. I am giving the store three stars because I was able to find the leaves I wanted, but I believe your staff can improve their...
Read moreExtremely bad service with no care for quality of their products, refused to give refund or exchange for a product that had obviously gone bad despite the expiry date (I had bought many before and it can sometimes be a bad batch as no preservatives used). Really no common sense, if a product was not opened why would someone want to return it? There's no way to know a product has gone bad without opening it. Very rude cashiers that refused to do anything, even throw away...
