Aldi stores have been my go-to’s since my pretty bad experience with at least 2 different Lidl stores. The staff don’t always seem very friendly, but that’s not much of a problem as long as I can check out my groceries and get assistance with checked items. The selection are usually nice and even though Aldi tend to have long check out lines, they will at least call more employees to work other registers (unlike Lidl). It’s always a plus when I can find ground Chicken! Aldi seems to maintain a standard throughout their stores that I truly appreciate and respect. Read moreEdit: Nothing changes in the Covid/lockdown times. 2 cashiers open in peak hours, 8-10 customers waiting by each. And of course, the cashiers are open just next to each other.
CONS: The queues - it is a joke. Long queues, the cashiers are leaving their spots even when customers are waiting. Never are there more than 3 cashiers open.
With a stroller or a wheelchair you do not get through because there are always numerous boxes and wagons in the aisles. The people who unpack the boxes are rude.
Veggies and fruit: worse quality than in Penny/Edeka/Rewe.
