BER Lounge Tempelhof — Local services in Schönefeld

Really like this lounge, it’s new and therefore quite modern. Not overly luxurious but it gets the job done. Located at the end of the all the A gates, it’s a bit of trek to get there after you pass security. About a 10 min walk and then up an elevator. The staff is always friendly at the front desk. Food options have varied a lot over the last few months but there’s always a few snacks and most times some hot food to eat. Drinks selection is pretty good, coffee machine makes nice drinks and there’s plenty of alcohol and soft drinks.

Lounge is actually quite big and especially round the back near the conference room it is always quite quiet. Comfy chairs and nice design, the sofas almost all habe USB chargers in them which charge your phone very speedily indeed! I came in with 4% battery and my phone was at 30% in 10 minutes! Very welcome as public charging stations can usually take a very long time.

The relative emptiness of this lounge is the best part about it, especially in the evening. For people travelling on non-Schengen flights there’s a shortcut using the door opposite where you came in (behind the front desk) that opens directly onto a couple of passport booths, that then take you straight to C gates and therefore your flight. Very handy to know otherwise you will have to retrace your steps back past the entire A gates, up the escalators to main passport control and then all the way through C gates to your boarding gate.

All in all a solid lounge, very relaxing in the evening and worth spending an hour...

Monday morning at 10.45. Have walked to the far reaches of the airport to find the lounge (why have they put it here with an advertised 22 mins walk to our gate?) Queues at the checkin desk staffed by one guy doing his best to be polite and helpful, explaining to each customer that “we are very busy today” …. er yes, it is one of Europe’s biggest capitals, on a Monday morning. Where do I start as I sit here waiting for my flight back to LHR. Almost nothing to eat…the last of the hot breakfast items languishing at the bottom of the heated tray and no bread, rolls croissants etc at all. All there is are a few limp cold meat and flabby cheese slices and enough fresh fruit left for one helping. unable to find a space on a dining height table to eat said flabby cheese so eating it on my knee in the lounge area but un able to cut it as there are no knives left in the cutlery area. *Coffee? The machine indicating latte has run out of milk!! *I’ll have a glass of water… no glasses on the shelf above. not a single member of staff around to speak to other than chap on reception…. “sorry we are aware but we are very busy this morning!” At 11.30 the hot food has started to appear for lunch but too late for me as need to go to boarding.
