Kamps Bäckerei mit Backstube — Restaurant in Schönefeld

I never would’ve expected such a high quality bakery in an airport! Kamps is located at the entrance of Terminal 1, therefore easily accessible, and the amount of goods there will leave you wanting to try every single one!

I decided to get a pastry right after landing in the airport because I had seen really good pictures of this place on the BER website, and I couldn’t have made a better choice. It was so good that I came back here when flying back home: I ordered a cinnamon roll both times, once with nutmeg and the second times a classic one with frosting. They were exceptional! Both were around €3.5 and they not dry at all, but rather moist and extremely enjoyable. I honestly wish I could’ve bought and tried more, but as I was traveling by myself that was not a possibility.

Of course we’re inside an airport and the prices reflect that: a 0.5 l water will also cost you around €3.5, which is a bit of a sour note but also to be expected.

The only actual negative aspect I’d like to point out was the frosting on the cinnamon roll: it was very savory and not sweet at all, and not in a pleasant way. I ended up not eating it because the pastry was much more enjoyable without it! A very unpleasant situation. I bought a chicken panini labeled "hot," took the first bite, and the meat was cold, raw, and rubbery. Raw chicken! I came back after 5 minutes to complain. I was told that the chicken couldn’t be raw and that if I wanted, they would reheat the sandwich for me. The lady claimed it was just a piece of fat.
