We all have, at some point in life, tried every possible fitness fad and come out with mediocre or no results. I know I have. From weight training to crossfit, I have done it all and the results were decent. I was an avid crosfitter with the notion that bodybuilding or hypertrophy centric training isn't practical compared to crossfit - that is functional training.
My experience with the normal gyms might have helped that perception. Long story short, I was coming off a crossfit "binge", had taken a year long break, was 83kgs (had 10Kgs extra on me) decided to join GymX just to give bodybuilding another chance. Was pleasantly suprised to meet Vineet who is the resident trainer. An athlete himself, he broke my notions about how I can gain lean muscle, lose weight and incorporate a bit of crossfit on the side. I was hooked to the training regimen from the first day and have never missed a day. He also ensured I was sticking to a customized diet he had recommended. The typical question I would get every time I step in to the gym would be "What did you eat" :) I went from 83Kgs (weighed on May 23rd) to 74 kgs (weighed on July7). July 7th is also when I hit my all time Squat PR - 90Kgs. During training, Vineet would share his experiences, tips on how to remain healthy and be on your case if you failed a set. One thing, what differentiates Vineet from rest of the personal trainers I have come across is he will never promise you the moon and the stars when you share your goal with him. He is a straight talker. Based on your age, injuries, etc he will recommend what's the optimum level of fitness you can achieve.
All these gains (or weight loss) come with a caveat. Vineet will give 200% commitment to ensure you stick to the training and diet. But, if you have no drive to accomplish that goal, then any Personal Trainer for that matter wont be able to help you.

Lets talk about the coaches Chetan- this guy is cool,calm, tells you the technique of workout in the right way, and also keeps a watch on you whether you are able to pull it.Its not about doing it but doing it right. Anil- please dont call him that and you dare not, he is Anil bhai.Any number of time you ask him, he will tell you how to do a particular workout.He loves Hollywood tracks may be some cosmic connections. Srikant- No intro for him, go into the zym - if you see the light flashing at some place thats him,fun loving, most cheerful among the lot, Happy to help and talk to.full of life.But will make you complete your workout plan for day Murtaza- guy with flurosent boots.Not getting enthu or motivation,unable to workout due to your long office hours - check with him he is like coffee will help to - keep you going. Chiranjivi - If you are an early bird, you will meet him -he doesnt show you the workout but will workout along with you kinda workout partner. #flash.
Last but not the least workout plan, diet plan, personal coaching, zumba are additional features you can opt for. Improvement areas- Bollywood tracks need to be added to playlist, pay and use wifi feature (Since I'm taking time out to write this up). I like it there and hopefully be renewing...
