There was an order from the city police to restrict public access to Phoenix Mall of Asia, on Ballari Road, which was challenged in the High Court of Karnataka, is yet another example of the glaring problem of lack of a holistic approach before clearing big residential and commercial projects in the city. The roads are too crowded as people rush in from everywhere. The traffic jam is unbelievable. It took me 2 hrs to move 450 meters. The parking fiasco is another for the visitors. Which I will explain later. The entry restrictions kept temporarily by the mall authorities are just simply stupid. They should have solved these issues while planning, which all points to the holistic approach before construction. There was an issue with Phoenix Mall of Asia not allowing youth and only family people; I had gone there once, and they were pushing and refusing to allow young boys and girls and were allowing only family people. Now to the parking, just to understand the footfall, they're charging 100 for 2-wheeler parking and 250 for 4-wheeler parking, and worst of all, due to the extreme rush to limit people or something, they're charging 200 per person for pedestrian entry from Gate 3. This mall alone has caused kilometers worth of roadside parked cars both ways and extreme traffic near the junction before gate 1. So assuming 3000 bikes and a minimum of 2000 cars that were actually parked in the basement they're getting 300,000 and 500,000 on average every 4 hours, and assuming 3 whole cycles of this means roughly 24 lakh in just parking per day. Then, for 200 people, let's assume just 1000 people per 4 hours is another 6 lakhs. Total 30 lakhs!!! Just for parking and visiting fees. MENTAL. Don’t let me even start with the pro-Kannadiga madness.

Now coming to the mall itself, it’s humongous. It’s unbelievably huge. It’s one of the biggest mall I ever visited; in order to reach the parking gate behind the mall, I believe there is a minimum length of 300 m to travel and reach the gate, so the building with the length of minimum 300 m and width of something similar, You can imagine this shear Volume and the scale of the building, that too, in several floors; we can get an average step count of at least 12,000 steps per day. Aesthetically speaking, the mall looks ugly from the elevation. I am sure the designers could have made something iconic with this building. The bulbous element in the front side of the building doesnt match with the total aesthetics of the building, especially considering that this is a linear building. If you walk inside all the floors at some point, you will be tired and bored to climb more and to see more because it’s that huge; there is a lot to see there is a lot of shops. A lot of international brands, and you will be tired by walking around Don’t even start me about the weekends. You can find all the international brands like Birkenstock, Victoria's Secret, calvin Klein, Tim Hortons, etc and you name it, it will be here . As you go up there are a few restaurants that will even make you question your entire existence, with mouthwatering food and incredible interior design and aesthetics. The rush is unimaginable. You’ll be extremely packed and confused and there will be a sense of irritation and disgust. Toilets are extremely clean and neat. I personally believe all the plants indoors are just plastic, as growing this amount of plants indoors is unrealistic and impractical. The one other major disadvantage you have when such international brands come is that they wont allow you to sit in their furniture after all these tedious walks. You are forced to buy something inorder to sit in their furniture eventhough its in the common lobby. The mall in general is a great space with ample amenities with proper provisions for vertical movement. The flooring has some styling, and it looks very good. Overall, a great place to bring your kids and family for a one-day trip if you...
