From the jasmine tea welcome to fairy lights on the ceiling, this place knows how to create a warm vibe before the food even arrives.
Ambience: The moment we entered Cha Hong Kong Eating House, it felt like we were being welcomed into a cozy corner of the city. We were served jasmine tea right away, which was such a thoughtful touch and instantly made us feel at ease. The interiors are done beautifully- fairy lights on the ceiling, comfortable seating, and a little table lamp on every table with three light modes. It sounds like a small thing, but honestly, it changed the mood at the table and made the whole experience feel personal. The restaurant was spotless, everything looked cared for. What I loved most is how versatile the setting is - you can easily come here for a family dinner, a group outing, a cozy date, or even alone when you just want to enjoy a good meal in a nice atmosphere.
Food Quality: I was happy to see that the menu matched exactly what was available online - no surprises, no missing options - and there were plenty of choices for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The Green Thai Curry with Jasmine Rice was the star for me; I actually ended up ordering it twice. Another standout was the Roasted Chicken Salad, which was as beautiful as it was delicious - multicolored, fresh, and plated so aesthetically that it looked like something out of a food magazine. The flavors matched the presentation, which isn’t always the case in many places. Portion sizes were a little on the smaller side, and I personally would’ve loved slightly more generous servings, but the quality, freshness, and taste made up for it.
Beverages: This was the one area where I felt let down. The drinks looked nice on the table, but they tasted diluted and didn’t have the same thoughtfulness or flavor that the food carried. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it definitely stood out because everything else was done so well. Honestly, if the beverages were improved to match the level of the food, this restaurant would come very close to perfect.
Service: Orders were taken digitally and sent directly to the kitchen, which felt efficient and made the process seamless. The food didn’t come instantly, but that’s because it was served hot and fresh, which felt worth the short wait. A very special mention for our server, Rose - she was attentive without hovering, polite, and warm. She quietly made sure everything was flowing well, and it really elevated the entire experience. Service can make or break a place, and thanks to Rose, ours felt cared for.
Value for Money: For the quality of food, the presentation, and the ambience, the prices felt fair. It’s not a 'cheap eats' place, but you leave feeling like you got your money’s worth. The effort and thought put into the food and the details around the dining experience justify what you pay.
Overall: Cha Hong Kong Eating House is one of those places where you notice the little details - the jasmine tea welcome, the fairy lights above, the cozy table lamps, the clean and inviting interiors, and the care with which the food is presented. Add to that attentive service (thank you, Rose!) and food that really delivers on flavor, and you have a spot that feels special. Yes, the drinks need improvement and the portions could be a touch bigger, but those are small things compared to the overall experience. I left feeling warm, satisfied, and already planning my next visit - probably for another round of that Green Thai Curry with...
Read moreVery very disappointed. The floor manager explained they've started only 2 weeks ago and they're still getting things sorted.
But basic issues should have been sorted BEFORE starting, like ensuring the servers are aware what's possible and what's not. We asked if we could have a mixed portion of chicken and prawn wontons, both same price and it should be an easy request to agree. The server wasn't sure and this starter dish arrived after we finished our main course finished. We specifically asked the guy (different server, who jumped in when we asked why this is getting delayed) if this was mixed - he said yes, unconvincingly. Obviously, it was all prawns - he either didn't care about lying or thought we wouldn't figure out which is which. Either way, trying to make a fool out of the customer is definitely DISAPPOINTING!
The rest of our order - everything was cold, visually unappetizing (except the jade rice, which came last after we complained and while freshly prepared was so oily others couldn't/wouldn't eat it, I had to wolf it down), very very small portions for the price charged, and yes, definitely overpriced for the quality and taste.
I realise mall rents are high and dishes are priced accordingly - I don't mind paying good money if the dish justified it. This place, no.
I wouldn't recommend, especially since there are abundant dining options in the mall. Just our luck we saw this place first and decided to eat there. Unfortunate and sad.
Another thing - hygiene. A visibly sniffing and sweat smelling serving person is definitely off putting and unappetizing.
This place could be SO MUCH better and I sincerely hope the management would pull up their socks and live up to it's...
Read moreCha Hongkong Eating House exceeded expectations in every way! The dim sum was truly divine, with standout dishes like Chung Fun, Har Gow, and Szechuan Roast Lamb that stole the show. The Mountain Chilli Chicken was a thrilling surprise, with a perfect balance of spice and flavor.
But what truly elevated the experience was our server, Rose (Kholniva). Her warm smile and attentive service made us feel like family, and her knowledge of the menu was impressive. She expertly guided us through the menu, making recommendations and ensuring that our glasses were always full.
The cocktails were also a highlight, with the Zen Garden and Dragon Fire being particular standouts. The former was a soothing blend of herbal notes, while the latter was a spicy kick that perfectly complemented the meal.
Overall, Cha Hongkong Eating House is a hidden gem that is not to be missed. The combination of delicious food, expert service, and creative cocktails makes for a truly unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're a dim sum aficionado or just looking for a new spot to try, this restaurant is sure to impress.
