I was looking to upgrade to Road bike from my MTB. I went to Bums on the Saddle and it was a luke response. They didn't take much interest or gave me time, like a branded store with no personal attention. Then I heard about RR cycles in my gym and went there. I met Rakesh there and he was so great. Patient listener, humble, understands what you need vs what you want, gives right advice. He did not push me at all, gave me a demo cycle over a weekend to ride and experience (in the photo). I finally made up my mind on Trek Domane Al 5, he had in size 54' (Medium) and I was in between 54 and 56. The Trek website said 56' (ML) is my size. I read a lot and decided on 56'.
I went to Bums on the Saddle yesterday. They had 56' that I tried and I felt it was my size. I called Rakesh from there. He checked and said Trek doesn't have 56' in stock anymore so to go ahead with Bums on the Saddle. I felt terrible not to buy from RR Cycles, Madiwala store as Rakesh had helped me a lot, a lot. But I had no choice so I went ahead.
I highly highly recommend RR Cycles Madiwala. I met few people who bought from there and were all so happy with their experience. Rakesh is a cycle buying advisor who would not push you and let you take your time to decide. Wonderful experience. Sometimes you win without winning, he didn't get my business but he did win my heart. That's how these stores...
Read moreThe cycle and the service almost killed me.
The "free service" joke: When I bought my cycle, I was promised three free service with a little tune ups within three months. I went in once, well within that timeframe, only to be told it was "too late." After proving them wrong (thanks, calendar app), the "service" turned out to be a guy wiping the cycle with a cloth like. I mentioned the brakes were squeaky, and after his "expert touch," they squeaked louder than a door in a horror movie within a day.
Safety first? LOL, nope: Four days after this so-called "service," my left brake gave up on life entirely while riding through the chaos of Silk Board traffic. Narrowly missed becoming one with a van's bumper. The right brake, meanwhile, decided to tighten up like a grudge. So, are disc brakes supposed to fail in three months? Or is "safe" a premium add-on I forgot to ask about?
The price tag blues: The cycle itself was ₹16,000, which I was okay with. But ₹750 for a cloth? A cloth! Is it woven with unicorn hair or dipped in liquid gold? It’s a masterpiece in overpricing.
Lost in the digital abyss: My bill? Sent on WhatsApp, because paper is clearly too old-school. Changed my phone, lost the message, and now I hav been asking for it repeatedly with no luck. The treatment you get after handing over your money? Radio silence. Stellar customer...
Read moreI have purchased 3 cycles from RR Cycles so far. My first purchase a year back, when I bought a a single speed Raleigh mountain bike that I used for commuting few kms everyday. Over the year I have visited the shop several time to get basic adjustments on the cycle such as brakes, seat height and other things. Also bought quite a few accessories from them. Every time the owner Rakesh and the others who work there are being most professional and helped me promptly.
So when it was time to buy a cycle for my wife I made the purchase there. They gave me the best price for the bike in comparison to the other shops.
Since I was regularly using the cycle, I recently upgraded to a Canondale Quick 5. This is quite an expensive cycle and I was not sure about taking the plunge. I visited the shop several times and tried several bikes from Giant, Merida, Montra and Cannondale. They were patient and even opened few boxes and assembled the bikes for me to try. Finally I picked the Quick 5, since it met all my requirements and was a perfect fit for me. I'm also sure I got a deal that I couldn't have gotten at any other shop.
Overall, I recommend anyone looking for a bike to visit RR cycles before making your purchase. You will...
