Hotel Duke — Hotel in Jammu and Kashmir

Please don't waste your money on even a single room for a single night at this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel thrice during the course of our Kashmir trip and while we stayed at other hotels in different parts of Kashmir, this has got to be the worst experience of our lives.

Listing out a few of the many problematic things with this hotel:

Each and every staff member of this place is unprofessional. Whenever we called for something to our room, they would knock and immediately try to work the handle of the door and attempt to enter. We complained about this issue every single day and despite creating a scene as a last resort, this behaviour continued till our last day. The toilets are stinky, dirty and they don't provide clean toilet paper rolls. Most of the towels are stained and soiled upon receiving them. There is a lot of miscommunication amongst the staff. Every second staff member claims to be the manager of the place. We were told by one person who tried to enter our room at one occasion that he was the "owner" of the hotel, when he actually turned out to the F&B manager. The reception staff claims to listen and solve your grievances but the staff doesn't seem to listen to anyone. The feeling was that there is no real authority at the place. On our last night, for the umpteenth time of our complaint regarding the attempt of the staff entering our room, the receptionist Zahid came to our room with the intention of "solving" the issue. In turn, he spoke rudely and loudly with us and while we were complaining. Additionally, we encountered another pair of men doing the exact same thing with another room that also was occupied by our family member. When asked why he was doing that, he said i want to show the room to another guest that was present with him. Zahid specifically claimed that both people were unaware because they both were guests. It was only the next day that we found out that one of the men was actually a staff member. When we confronted Zahid in front of the other reception staff, he began to get angry and walked out on us. This place is unsafe for single women and it can easily make you feel insecure. In a lot of reviews mentioned above, the name Arif and several other staff members have been noticed. We have personally met them and can confirm that their behaviour is in fact very unprofessional. Arif was the first member to try and get into our room without permission. The service was also ghastly. The food, cleanliness and overall service just leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. Room cleaning in their minds only means doing the bed and hardly mopping the bathroom. They don't bother taking the trash, cleaning the floor and side tables or restocking the essentials...

Excellent stay during 21st to 25th Sept '23. Location is very nice. Everyone is taking care just like Home. Lobby was too good with architectural work spacious can easily seat more than 60 people at a time. Food is alo very good. Dal lake facing rooms are excelent. Scenarios are wonderful. One Medicine shop is located at the front.

Entire Tour was organized by Zahid Sab , General Manager of Duke Hotel, six Month before we have booked the Duke Hotel& He has supported us just like a nice family friend. His contineous follow up was excellent. He is playing a nice role in the Duke Hotel for customer friendly as well as maintaining commitment without fail.

Every guest will be satisfied by his behavior & support during Entire tour , Arrangement of Car, other locational site visit guidance was awesome.

Zahid is an reliable & trusted person at Duke Hotel at Dal Lake, Sringar.

Hope once again visit Srinagar & will stay at Duke Hotel based on Hospitality.

Overall beautiful place to stay safely & peacefully. Some improvement initiatives identified for further improvement which will serve the guests. Hotel Admin was agreed for further better service will be provided.

I booked this hotel directly via their person Haseeb for two nights, after seeing the reviews, ratings and the pictures. But when I checked in with my family I really got disappointed. Room was not cleaned, explaination I got from front desk was earlier guests just checked out. Even after they made room clean it was not livable, i again requested to get bathroom cleaned but still the result was same. Then I decided to look for some other hotel and finally after two hrs of struggle got it. I informed them about my decision to checkout and requested if they can refund atleast for one day. But Hotel people were not really ready stating it's a peak season. They have not maintained their property since year's, they have 2-3 people who are just attending guests but not really willing bro assistant. The person who was assisting me with luggage abused, and when I shouted they started saying sorry.

I must say it was a biggest mistake and around ,10,000 just went to their pocket, and they said it's hotel policy.

I can see Haseeb have responded to many of Google reviews below, let's see what explaination he is giving on this today big cheaters. Not book there are many other good property near by.. they just keep 2000 less so that people come...
