The Travel Club Lounge at Kolkata airport serves the needs of a traveller who needs a quick snack and a little relaxation before the flight. The lounge is located at terminal 1, Airside, Domestic Departures, Mezzanine Level. The Travel Club Lounge has been divided into two: The older one is for basic cards by visa, mastercard etc. and a new one for business class passengers & premium card holders. The only difference I felt was that the premium one was less crowded. The facilities including seating arrangement are almost the same for both the lounges and includes non-alcoholic beverages, WiFi, magazines, and TV. It also offers good interiors, charging points, a reasonable buffet spread but is mostly crowded. When I first went to the basic lounge around two years back, I was able to get inside in 5 minutes because it was 6:30 in the morning. Otherwise it takes around 30 minutes in queue to get access. One of the reasons is use of ineligible cards by guest and then changing the card. Now, in August 2024, I went to the premium lounge and got in within 5 minutes. See the photo for the eligible cards. The lounge is not premium but is pretty decent in size but looking at the number of guests at the lounge, I would say that the airport requires a bigger lounge. When I was there it had almost 60% occupancy & it was 6:30 in the morning. They have a decent buffet spread with fruits, juices, tea, coffee, veg & non-veg items and desserts. The carrot cake is heavenly. They also have a live kitchen which makes only omelette, I think. The staff is efficient and helpful. All in all, if you’re looking for a pleasant atmosphere and spend some time relaxing in solitude, this is not the place for you.
