The Irish House — Restaurant in West Bengal

Felt completely ripped off and exploited by this visit. Asked for 500ml draught beer off the menu, not available but we could have Red dot on special offer (buy 2 get 1 free 300ml bottles ) , asked for another beer off the menu, not available again offered Red dot. Asked what other beers they had only red dot. Asked for a gin and Tonic, no Tonic. So finally opted for Red Dot. Had 2 beers then given the 3rd. Whilst drinking this were given another beer. We told them we had already had the 3rd beer. But we were told it was complimentary. Then another person came up and said there was a mistake and that the last person to give us the beer hadn't realised we had already had our 3rd beer so we needed to pay. We refused and told him to take the beer away. THEN comes the bill. We would have paid 900 rupees for our original order of 2 x 500ml draught instead was charged 1700 rupees for 2 x 330ml bottles (+1free) we tried to complain but they were not happy and would not move. Certainly would not go there next...

Nice restaurant with good food and ambience to relax and chill during a layover. Recently renovated into a restaurant. We had a headless chicken platter, which had enough fried chicken for 3-4 people, and came with french fries and dips. It was well prepared. We also had a Mexican outlaw, which my mom loved. It was a vegetarian dish with rice and paneer. The Peach ice tea was also really nice.

Room for improvement, if any - my sister didn't like the ketchup and would like to see chicken nuggets in the menu next time.

The chef's Mosharef Ali, Bishal Shawarma and Nabareu Ghosh personally came to greet us and ask us how the food was, which was a nice gesture.

The Irish House is always a cool place to visit, be it hanging around alone or with a group of friends in the city locations or to spend some time or for a quick drink and snacks in the Kolkata Airport restaurant.

The Kolkata Airport restaurant is accessible after security (security hold area prior to boarding the airplane). It is one level above the security level easily noticable when looked up towards the balcony. Can be accessed easily by escalator, elevator or staircase.

Good choice of drinks. Airport is never cheap, but becomes affordable with promotions.

The drinks and some snacks they serve very fast, but atleast have 20 minutes in hand before boarding if snacks are to be enjoyed.
