Airport Retiring Room — Hotel in West Bengal

Pros: It's inside the airport and it's cheap.

Cons: It's nearly impossible to get to. Not impossible to find, but impossible to get access to. I spent 1.5 hours, in walking in and out of the airport, talking with 10 different people and ended up at the airport managers office, just to get access. The problem is, that if you don't have a boarding pass for your connecting flight yet, and you need to check-in, there is no way to get to this place from the departure area, after you check in. I was told seven different ways to get there by just as many people, and no one had a clue about anything. The airport is tiny but guarded by the most illogical rules about entering and exiting, by people who don't understand this logic either.

The rooms are not clean at all. Bedsheets smelled, the table was yucky and they hadn't even changed the toilet paper roll. It's fine for sleeping a few hours but nothing...

I stayed in Kolkata retiring room long time back before renovation of the airport. But I again stayed there yesterday. This has been renovated in a huge area just out of the arrival launge in ground floor. Rooms and bathrooms are big, neatly kept. 2 towels and 2water bottle per head is allotted per person. only one piece of soap was provided. There is electric kettle in the room but no tea leaves,coffee or sugar etc are not kept. Rate is 1000Rs / head + 120Rs tax for twin sharing rooms and 700Rs in dormitory . Funny thing is for only couple they give the room for 1600Rs. But this rate is not applicable even for sisters or mother traveling with her grown-up children. I am really amused about who has...

It's a good place to stay if you have connecting flights or need a nice comfortable place to rest for some time, but unfortunately I found the place to be a little untidy, the electric kettle they provided was dirty and was full of rust, the other bed which was vacant beside me was unkempt(I was staying in a double room). However the most unpleasant thing for me was the staff behaviour, surprisingly they were very rude and behaved frugal beyond imagination, they were reluctant even to give a few tea bags when asked for. They said they will not provide blanket and somehow handed me a bedcover after much convincing as if I was staying in a cheap lodge near the railway station. Not a very...
