The UCC Student Health Center, located in Ardpatrick House on College Road within the main campus of University College Cork, is an invaluable resource for students. It offers a broad spectrum of services, including general medical consultations, mental health support, sexual health services, vaccinations, and may be physiotherapy (not sure, this needs to be verified). The medical professionals at the center are highly competent and approachable, creating a supportive environment with a strong emphasis on confidentiality. The center is conveniently situated approximately 2-2.3 km away from Cork City Centre, about a 25-30 minute walk, and 1.7-1.8 km from Tyndall National Institute, roughly a 15-20 minute walk. Despite its many strengths, such as tailored student-focused care and a central campus location, the center does face challenges like long wait times for appointments during peak periods and limited opening hours that may not suit all students. Additionally, while the mental health services are commendable, the increasing demand sometimes leads to delays. Overall, the UCC Student Health Center remains a crucial part of the university's support system, providing essential healthcare services to the student community with dedication and...
Read moreI’ve seen several doctors and been to physiotherapy before, but Brid truly stands out as one of the most compassionate and kind individuals I’ve ever encountered. She consistently goes above and beyond to support me. I’ve been dealing with ongoing back pain, and Brid has been an absolute lifesaver. She not only sees me in person but also follows up with check-ins, making me feel genuinely cared for. Physio sessions with her feel like a combination of therapy and physical treatment because she listens without judgment and creates a safe space. I always leave feeling better both mentally and physically.
Doctor Elaine has also been incredible. A friend initially recommended Student Health after having a great experience with Elaine, and I’ve since heard similar feedback from other students. Elaine is so kind, attentive, and empathetic, truly making me feel like she cares deeply about my well-being. While I’ve seen other doctors, Elaine’s compassion and genuine concern set her apart. Both Brid and Elaine have made a significant positive impact on my health...
Read moreI am a medical student, and this young male doctor with an Australian/New Zealand accent demonstrated everything we are taught not to do. He didn't make eye contact, stared at his computer, and was dismissively rude. He interrupted to incorrectly tell me I "couldn't have" my own symptoms. His belligerent and unprofessional conduct was appalling. I felt completely invalidated. A terrible experience from a doctor who should definitely not be in a student health center and needs to revisit his conduct training. I can also see a previous review which is undoubtedly referring to the same pathetic...
