Lovely park and such parks are severely lacking in Cork City. Having lived in Dublin, and experiencing the abundance of city centre parks, we in Cork are being left wanting. Nevertheless, this park has a lovely playground, a nice cafe, and a well kept water attraction. Named after Edward Fitzgerald, an older Lord Mayor of Cork, the park has recently been refurbished and redesigned with some of the garden architecture/features created by renowned garden architect Dermot Gavin. The park tends to get overcrowded in summer and the playground is designed in such a way that parents cannot keep an eye on younger children when they go to the opposite side. This makes losing younger children quite problematic in this playground based on my experience. Obviously, that's is not a problem with older children. The city badly needs more parks like this both on the north and south side. The whole area has a nice laid back atmosphere and there's a lovely cafe (the natural foods bakery) providing high quality food and coffee at one end of the park. Worth a visit for sure but perhaps nicer in the autumn when it doesn't feel so crowded.

Best Park in Cork. Very near to City centre (walking distance) great for picnics and school trips. There is a museum here and also a smaller artist exhibition just inside the gates in a smaller building but the park itself is the star attraction. Interesting walks everywhere, go off the main paths to find hidden gems. Large rose garden, multiple statues, sculptures and subtle designs hidden all over the place. Take your time and there is plenty to see. There is also a very large, modern play area for kids. There is areas of this park when you could pitch a tent and live under a tree or behind some bushes and no one would find you for weeks if they didn't actually look. Everyone sticks to the paths when there is so much more to see. Beautiful place.

Fitzgerald's Park is a public park in Cork city and it's location is very special as it's next to UCC, The Mardyke Arena (fitness and leisure centre) and Cork County Cricket Club. It is very much at the heart of Cork city and is easily accessible. This park is very diverse as it has a children's playground, a field, a fountain, multiple other green walkways (footpaths) and a public restroom. The most enjoyable part of this park is walking on the bridge called Daly's Bridge, but widely known as ''Shakey Bridge'', because it's shakey when you walk on it. ⛲️🪴🌷🌹🧙♀️🌳🌴

During our visit to Cork Fitzgerald park left me mesmerized. This park is a haven of natural beauty, featuring stunning trees, vibrant flowers, a fantastic play area, and enchanting fountains all along the river. This park offers more than just beauty; it also provides clean facilities and well-maintained pathways. It's a perfect retreat for nature lovers, families, or anyone seeking peace along the river. If you're looking for a serene escape amidst natural wonders and fun-filled activities, this riverside park is a must-visit.

A beautifully kept public park. Neat, tidy and home to Cork public museum. An 18 acre, large city centre attraction, you should definitely pay this park a visit. If you are looking for a peaceful stroll by the river, a wild session in an ultra modern playground, a relaxing picnic or a game of football with the kids, this is the place for you. Gorgeous flowers and trees, very interesting structures and monuments and statues. A seat by the stunning river Lee. A coffee shop and bakery. Need I say any more???
