I went to their store in Dundalk, Co.Louth looking for a phone. The man showed me it was a grade c phone meaning it's their lowest grade but the only thing wrong with the phone was that there is a green hue around the screen due to the previous owner having the screen brightness on full. He said if there was anything wrong with the phone it has a two year warranty and to take it back to them. I discovered that night the screen keeps freezing. I'm not stupid and so obviously this screen was changed either by CEX and previous owner but not apple as this is typical of a phone in which the screen was cracked but has had a replacement by someone other than apple themselves. My wife took it back but was told that they cannot give her a refund because for the moment he's using the screen and it looks fine and that we would have to record a video of it happening in order to get a refund. In the end he gave her a voucher for 300 euro and said they can't change it at the store ( the guy who told us about the warranty said we could return to the store with it and exchange it for another) but that we would have to go online and purchase another one. We did this but are unhappy with the sales experience and will never shop at CEX ever again because of it. I'm involved in sales myself for years and these people don't tell you the full story behind these ''phones'' they be getting in order to secure themselves a quick sale, either that or they're just plain...
Read moreHad to fight for a week to get my son a refund on a product he was sold that wasn't fit for purpose (extra memory for his PC, didn't fit even though he had given them make and model). Kept being told that it didn't affect my statutory rights, which obviously they didn't understand, even though I do. Felt guilty about harassing young assistants to get a refund, but their manager never seems to be there, and they don't seem to feel any remorse when taking money off children for items they know to be defective or no use. Eventually got a refund after almost a week as a "goodwill gesture", as if they were doing ME a favour! Will never be back, will never let my kids waste their money there again. Absolute...
Read moreCEX is quite possibly my favourite place on earth. I often venture in to look at the array of overpriced Wii U games and the atrocities for sale in the €1 DVD section. I especially love looking at the DVD for “Alan Carr: Spexy Beast” which has been available but unsold for over 6 years. I’ve also traded in a mint condition iPhone 14 here and netted a whopping €130.
However, I’m afraid to show my face in this establishment again as on one fateful day the shop employee refused to sell me “The Inbetweeners Movie” and I left in a fury while calling him a dingus. Therefore I couldn’t give my brother a present for Christmas as all he lives for are the...
