I hunt down extraordinary ice cream, gelato and frozen custard in cities throughout the world. This place gets it right. I'll start with the trivial: They have homemade whipped cream and they'll give you all you want -- even in a separate container -- at no extra charge. Likewise three different types of hot chocolate topping -- white, milk and dark. The gelato is stored in covered freezers -- the only way to store quality, artisanal gelato. The eye candy displays of tourist-oriented places is not cold enough. The gelato at this place is comparable in texture and creaminess to continuous-run frozen custard -- absolutely fabulous. I tried three flavors over two visits, all excellent. Ignore the underwhelming star ratings: local Italians punish the place for their slightly higher prices over the other local joints. Alcholics and cocktail drinks may be available at specific times of day and night. Young energetic caring service. This is an exceptional spot. The gelato is among the nicest I've had in this region so far (and I've tried A LOT). Avoid the touristy trapped ones that have gelato in a beautifully shaped pile. Real Gelato should be incased in a big silvery container embedded into a freezer like what this place has.

I had the chocolate orange and coffee on a big cone topped with cream on the servers insistence, followed by an espresso.
