Sticco Mare — Local services in Trieste

I had come to Sticco in the past over a number of years, even as long ago as when my kids were small and we used to go to the swimming area reserved for young families. Staff was always friendly and helpful, changing rooms aplenty. Came a few times this year for a few hours a day just to swim and rest under the shade. The young lady at the cash desk was friendly and polite. On the contrary, the guys in charge of providing sunbeds and the lifeguard were quite the opposite. Unfriendly and some of them quite rude. Nobody bothered to tell me that, unlike in the past, outsiders who need to get changed can only use the same and only cabin; all the others are apparently reserved for regular customers, I assume, at a price. Another customer who came to swim and sunbathe was, like me, unaware of the 'new rules'; she was quite shocked and angry about it when I informed her about the changing rooms. Again she had to hear it from me, another customer, as members of staff had not bothered...

The staff here were quite rude. They got our bill wrong twice and then on the third bill they charged an extra €5, which was more than the original bill they got wrong! When we asked about it they got aggressive and angry. They created a scene in front of other customers and made us feel very uncomfortable when we were only trying to understand the extra charges. So they continued to overcharge us even though it was wrong and we challenged them multiple times, they just wouldn’t budge on removing it from the bill. Aside from this when we ordered a cappuccino it came out cold and we asked for it to be changed for a hot one they scolded us for not knowing that they serve them cold (even though no mention of this on the menu or when the staff took our order). We also ordered some sandwiches and had to wait 45 mins for them to arrive even though it wasn’t busy when we were there. Overall the service was very poor, staff were rude and we left feeling annoyed and disappointed for being...

A beautiful place with reasonable fees. But and this is where the 3 star rating stems from: the restaurant is chaotic, food is average at best (don't order the chicken burger or the Club Sandwich, it's not worth it) and after 45 minutes of waiting for the food nobody felt responsible, later service was flat-out denied. It's a shame because I really liked it there and specifically planned to go there when visiting Miramare. Maybe in the future the restaurant will be a bit more professional, I would be glad.
