Mercato Sacca Fisola — Local services in Venice

The cafe in Sacca Fisola in a large open square opposite a modern church on Guidecca Island to the south of Venice is one of the places my wife and I regularly visit. For it is well off the beaten track, far from the places tourists visit, and generally used by locals. The food - especially the well filled tramazzini - is of the highest quality, as is the wine. It is also very inexpensive. One thing I really enjoy is that the staff speak no English but are extremely patient of an elderly englishman's attempts to speak their language and they make every effort to understand. Io ci abito a Sacca Fisola. Da molti anni questo mercatino. Viene portato con il ferry boat. Al mattino.. Già alle otto il mercato è aperto. Molti i giudecchini che fanno la spesa. Altri che vengono con battello da Venezia. E riempiono le borse della spesa. Ci sono buoni prezzi in tutto quello che ti può servire. E non manca nulla. Un pregio ed un privilegio acquisito. I banchi non sono molti ma c'è comunque scelta....che dire di quello delle caramelle/spezie/miele/marmellate ecc.....o quello che offre dei formaggi particolari tipo al tartufo......oppure quello del pane con ingredienti vari? Se poi devi cambiare la guarnizione della pentola pressione o il manico, vai li e te lo fanno...dove trovi...
