Shibai no Yu — Local services in Beppu

Part of the onsendo, you can get your stamp at the front desk. Buy a ticket from the vending machine (300yen) and pass to the attendant at the front window. Leave your shoes in the shoe cubbies. There are also some small 100yen lockers. You will have to go up and down stairs to access the onsen facilities. There are free lockers and hairdryers in the ladies' room. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is provided. Grab a bucket and stool, but remember to rinse and return them when you are done. There are only 5 showers available. The bath is pretty big but also one of the hotter baths. However, on the right side is a cooler bath that has two waterfalls to give you a light massage (like Hyotan onsen). You can sit and enjoy this massage feature. Mostly locals go here but it's worth visiting and seeing the building. I recommend going to the nearby cafe Yuuzutsu for lunch...

Been to several local-community onsens in Beppu, and I could say that Shibai no Yu is the best and cleanest one. The building itself is an old traditional but newly-renovated house with many Japanese-style rooms available for rent (if I'm not mistaken tho). The onsen is remarkable. It's really clean and comfortable. There are two pools there. The big one is filled with hot water, while the smaller one with two waterfalling from above is a lukewarm one. There're soap, shampoo, and conditioner available at the shower area and hairdryers in the dressing area, but you need to pay an extra fee...

土曜日の午後4時20分ころに入浴。駐車場は10台分以上ありました。建物は新しく、コミュニティセンターの中にある温泉です。料金は、大人税込270円、子供税込120円、幼稚園生以下は無料でした。脱衣場には、無料で鍵がかかる木製ロッカーがありましたので、安心して貴重品を入れることができました。浴室には、やや広めの浴槽と打たせ湯がありました。シャンプー、ボディソープ、風呂桶はあります。浴室の大きな窓は庭に面しており、庭からの涼しい風を感じながら入ることができました。庭がよく見えるので半分露天風呂のような気分になりました。50分くらいゆっくりと入りました。バス路線に面しているので行きやすいです。別府公園でのイベントに参加した時は帰る前に行っ...
