If you love a good view, this is a must go. Even better than the Beppu port tower which overlooks the sea. Global tower is 100m tall with a single elevator leading up to a glass deck with no roof. On a windy day it can be scary, but I managed to convince a friend who was afraid of heights to go up and they had a great time. The views are simply stunning on a good day, you can see the steam rising up from the Jigoku Hells in the distance, as well as most of Beppu's major landmarks. It was so nice that we spent 2 hours up there, while everyone else came for five minutes and then went back down. Most of the time we were the only ones up there. The entry is 300 yen for adults and you get a postcard too. Be aware that there are no restrooms on the tower, the nearest one is in the nearby underground parking lot which is not part of the tower. Admission ticket costs 300 Japanese Yen for adults. The elevator stops at both platforms: 96 m and 100 m, but you can also use the stairs between them.

The thing is… I couldn’t find people except few people for it doesn’t have A/C even in the elevator. It was about 34 degrees (93.2F) on that day. Extremely hot without A/C is not acceptable for the tourists.
