Dusty and deserted, this shrine had the most beautiful carvings. Quiet and serene. I was deeply moved. So close to the ropeway I am stunned at the lack of visitors. There is no rhyme or reason to why some shrines are overrun and some are deserted.

On a Saturday I was here completely on my own. In a positive sense this has the charm of a lost place. Spend some time here and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. I really recommend going here.

早雲山駅寄り徒歩約15分で車でも行けますが道が狭く勾配があり注意が必要です。駐車場は5台ぐらい停められます。大雄山最乗寺は全国に4千あまりの門流を持つという曹洞宗の大寺で箱根別院も一つです。大正5年に開基されたとの事です。大雄山最乗寺と同じく　天狗の高下駄　が飾ってあり静かな境内、参道階段右側に天狗の像、本堂手前の朱色の欄干には　早雲台の文字が刻まれています。箱根別院の御真殿からは強羅夏祭りの花火、大文字焼き(8月16日)が良く見えるとの事です。箱根の高台にあり景色も良くそよ風も気持ちよくのんびりする時間を過ごす事が出来ました。まだ大雄山最乗寺は訪れて居ないのでで次回は時間を作り訪れたいです。
