Train ride here was scenic. Other than that, there's nothing much to do here. There's toilet and a small soveniors shop with few dispenser machines. Paddy field at the scenery and a food truck downstairs selling ice cream etc.
Worse thing, had a bad experience with the staff at the ticket counter. We arrived at 2.25pm and the returned ticket given was 2.30pm so I had requested to return at a later timing (before the 2.30pm train departed) which was accepted but the old lady at the counter did not print the rescheduled tickets for us, told us to sit at the front seats only at 3.30pm and just waved me off.
When I enquired about the seating later, a young man at the counter insisted that we should pay for new tickets and are not allowed to board as it's after the train departure time. This was a shocked to us and the old lady changed her claimed and said she had told us to return with the 2.30pm train. I'm still having nightmares about this unpleasant experience.
Wonder if overtourism at Kyoto had caused the Japanese people to be frustrated with tourists unlike my previous experience in Japan where people were gracious and...
Read moreThe train ride itself was pleasant enough, but the whole experience and the chaos and lack of staff to help really ruined the experience. Our family booked the tickets one month ahead and was so looking forward to ride the train during Sakura season. When we got to the station 15 mins ahead of our departure time, the platform was starting to get crowded. Then we finally got on the train and realized our assigned seats were occupied. We waved at the staff on the platform trying to get help but he never came. Then the door closed. After arguing for 10 mins, they finally admitted they don’t have the tickets and got out of our seats. throughout the whole train ride, we did not see any staff came through our car or checked anyone’s tickets. There were 8 people standing around during the ride, blocking the views of other people who had tickets. I hope the train company pays attention to this and fix the problem as soon as possible. (I have bumped up one star for how the train company had handled my...
Read moreWe were supposed to take the Hozugawa river boat ride but was cancelled due to bad weather. Thus we opted for the train ride. Since we didn’t book in advance so we got the standing seats at the SAME PROCE of the seated ticket. We were ok with the arrangement as we were told about it. But we were not informed that six of us of the standing tickets were confined in a small space, probably the area of two rows of benches ! HAVE THEY EVER THINK OF THE SAFETY AS NO HANDRAIL TO HOLD ON! There were some empty seats, not sure if people didn’t turn up or whatsoever reasons, we were not allowed to sit NOR STAND at those seats 😡 And my hubby was being PUSHED back by the train conductor.… he was just too rude and ignored my hubby needed time to let other people got clear before he could move! The ride has become too touristy that the operator could have lost their patience in organizing a ROMANCE TRAIN RIDE as what...
