Hakuza — Local services in Kanazawa

Strongly recommend coming here if you are seeking gifts or souvenirs featuring Kanazawa's famous gold leaf. The products in the store are exceptional, and I would recommend coming here for gold leaf items rather than shopping for them in the tourist heavy Geisha districts. We also had an excellent time with one of the assistants who took the time to explain the long process of making the gold leaf, and demonstrating the final cutting of a sheet and how incredibly fragile the final product is. Very interesting and enjoyable to learn. The gold tea room inside the showroom was amazing to see. Especially after you learn how light and incredibly fine the gold leaf is, then realise the room is coated with over 3kg!! Lovely shop with excellent service.

The service staff there busted out a translator to help communicate with me. I was initially concerned about shopping as transport was an issue for me since I backpacked this time round to japan, but they were very helpful and assisted me greatly in the decision making process. I really appreciate it!

Tis an excellent place to pick up souvenirs for ladies too, as they sell gold leaf facial products, and cow leather gold leaf purses...
