I‘ve been at Ebisu Sushi for dinner with my girlfriend. To summarize the visit: It was the best sushi of my life considering variation as well as taste. Furthermore the service is outstanding. All in all I’m sure I will remember this dinner for many years.
More details follow from now on: When you enter the restaurant you are greeted by relaxing sounds, the smell of incense sticks and a friendly smile. The chef itself is friendly and can speak a little English, one of the staff could support with good English as well. There is an English menu so you can go there and order without any Japanese languages knowledge. The service and the hospitality is amazing. The sushi is perfect, due to high fish quality and amazing skills of the chef. I‘m not giving more details to ensure that everyone who enters this restaurant can be surprised and enjoy an amazing dinner. One note with respect to the reservation: The reservation side is a 3rd party side which seems to charge 2000 yen for the reservation, therefore I asked a Japanese friend to do the reservation, which...
Read moreIf you don’t know the meaning of omakase, let me tell you, it means: I leave it up to you. And this is how it works you sit down in this little gem, you chose the number of pieces you want to eat, and then you’ll leave it up to the chef. Oh boy, don’t over order, because they keep coming! We ordered 27 pcs but received 36 pcs plus the daikon radish, miso soup, tea, sake and treats. The chef and master was alone when we arrived and was amazing seeing him work, he was fast, yet precise with attention to details. An amazing experience out of the crowds. Every single piece tasted fantastic and fresh. You must visit this place. If there are other customers before you the chef will serve their sushi first, making each one by hand, so there is a wait- but during this time he still makes sure you are comfortable and attended to- the most amazing host despite limited English. In the dark, the restaurant was difficult to find, so check the pictures for reference. Price was extremely honest, we spent in total...
Read moreI almost never write reviews, but the service at Ebisu Sushi was incredibly kind, generous, and welcoming, that I feel a responsibility to support this family-run business.
The otoshi was a delicious little radish and braised beef dish that was marinated in soy sauce and sugar.
I ordered the Hyakumangoku omakase (3500 yen) which consisted of 9 pieces of sushi and each piece was fantastic. My favorites were the tuna and the shrimp (bottom row, third and second from the right), but every piece was clearly made with a lot of care and super fresh fish.
After the sushi, I got a dessert of Japanese sweets and some green tea. Very refreshing way to cap off my dinner.
Wajima-san really went above and beyond to make me feel like a local in a city that I had only spent a few hours in. Despite the language barrier, we were able to talk like friends for the entirety of my meal.
I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a delicious dinner hosted by the sweetest family in Kanazawa. I can't...
