Definitely a tourist spot, but one that’s fun to experience at least once.

The ice cream itself isn’t particularly rich or creamy, but it’s decent. What really stands out is the aesthetics with the entire sheet of gold leaf.

The shop has quite a few strict rules, like no walking outside while eating & must sit down, which felt a bit excessive. Which no one had complained about human rights but anyways just saying. If the same rule applies in places like China the world would have been mad. But it’s absolutely acceptable because of double standards. Just stating the fact that the rules are absolutely unnecessary. It didn’t bother me. Maybe it’s their way to making sure people don’t drop their ice cream. Make it a cafe if you don’t wanna do a takeaway kinda version.

Yes, Kanazawa is known for their gold leaf! And yes, we ate gold leaf ice cream! Prices although high for ice cream in itself, are less here than most other ice cream shops around Kanazawa. Service was friendly here too. The small sheet of gold leaf is basically wrapped around your soft serve. Aesthetically pleasing & unique, yet probably overpriced, I would still buy it again.
