When my fiancé and I got engaged (we're from Los Angeles!) we knew we wanted handcrafted rings made in Japan, but weren't sure exactly where we wanted to go.
After doing some research in the cities we would be visiting, I saw an interview from "Tatemachi Kanazawa" that made me super interested in SUNDANCE. The interview focused on Oshimizu-san, the craftsman. From his words, I knew he could be a really special person to make our rings. I reached out via Instagram to make an appointment given COVID restrictions are still heavily in place in Japan. He was able to accommodate our time with no issue!
When we arrived, Oshimizu-san was so extremely warm. I knew we made the right choice immediately. He had let us know he would only be able to communicate via a translation app, which was no problem for us at all. I know he really wanted to be able to speak English to us, and I was also annoyed at myself for not learning Japanese to communicate with him!
We had no idea what we wanted, and he was able to walk us through all the different customization options. There were a ton of options in terms of different metals, designs, stones, width; essentially you can come with something in mind, or customize from scratch like we did. I think what was most special were the meanings behind certain styles that he was kind enough to share with us. He let us know he has been in this profession for decades, and his professionalism really comes through while still being very personable and warm.
Overall, Oshimizu-san is the perfect person to make your rings. I can't recommend him enough. He is prompt in replying, super patient, and kept me informed of when he was shipping the rings (as well as all the tracking information). When the rings arrived, they were in perfect condition. He also included a handwritten note that I'll cherish and include in wedding photos! Thanks so much, SUNDANCE for making our wedding story even more special with a piece of your work.

Read moreWhile on holiday in Kanazawa, we were looking for wedding bands and came across Sundance through Google Maps after visiting a few shops. What drew us in was not just the beautiful pieces, but our interaction with Oshimizu-san. Unlike other stores we visited, Oshimizu-san is a true artisan — not just a retailer.
From the start, his warmth and deep knowledge of his craft gave us great confidence. He guided us through a comprehensive design process, showing us many samples and options, which we truly enjoyed being a part of. Even though we couldn't speak Japanese, communication was smooth and clear thanks to Google Translate — a testament to his patience and willingness to connect.
I also needed my engagement ring resized, which I was initially worried about because of its intricate design. After examining it, Oshimizu-san assured us it could be done — and amazingly, he resized it on the spot while we discussed our wedding band designs. The workmanship was exceptional and reaffirmed our decision to entrust him with our rings.
We ultimately decided on a custom design. Throughout the process, Oshimizu-san asked thoughtful questions about us and our story, which helped him create a design that felt deeply personal and meaningful. He even sketched out engraving ideas for us on the spot, further showing the difference between working with a dedicated craftsman like him versus a chain store.
When the rings finally arrived in Singapore, we were absolutely blown away. Every detail reflected the care and passion he poured into them. To top it off, he included a handwritten letter — such a rare and touching gesture in today’s digital world.
We couldn’t be happier, and will always treasure both the rings and the wonderful experience we had with Oshimizu-san and Sundance. Highly recommended!

Read moreI spent all day trying to find a silver necklace, even getting sold a fake (silver plated) necklace + pendant by a used clothing/accessory store nearby(not going to name the store, that's not my intention of this review), when I went into a clothing store in desperation to find silver jewlery, which the owner refered me to his friend who 'specializes in silver'.
On the spot, even though I didn't speak a word of Japanese, he worked with me step by step to create exactly the necklace that I wanted.
He created whole thing from start to finish in 10 minutes flat- he is a magician, and to top it all off, the price was lower than the original (not entirely silver) necklace I was sold. The piece is entirely custom, entirely silver, I recommend everyone (traveling or local) to go here to get their jewlery fix.
Amazing guy, his entire shop is an art gallery I would most certainly go...
