HANAZONO GOLF — Local services in Kutchan

For the 2016 season the name of this golf course changed from Tokyu Golf to Hanazono, in line with the rest of the Hanazono resort all around it. The links actually become snow adventure areas in the winter. The golf course itself has fantastic views of both the nearby Niseko mountains as well as a nice view of Yotei-san (the mini-Fuji of Hokkaido) when the weather is nice. Links are well maintained and reasonably challenging, with quite a few creeks devouring your balls. The restaurant food was mediocre (at best), would recommend to eat elsewhere or bring a snack. The club house did not seem as well maintained as in previous years, for example none of the flower benches were planted (just tilted over to prevent rain from collecting). Five stars for the golf course and views, deducting one star for the supporting...

Quite possibly the best course conditions post rain/showers I’ve ever played in. Expected cart path only, but they said fairways are open. I could see why! I was expecting puddles and to slosh around in some spots. Found ZERO puddles or wet patches. Outside of a slick texture on grass, slightly more wet than morning dew, I’d never had known it rained.

Sad that it was overcast and I didn’t get any views with the mountain in the back, but can’t control that.

You get a locker upon arrival and I had Yo rent clubs. I chose their premium set and got some brand new Bridgestones. They have these clutch shelves built into their golf carts. Why don’t we have that I’m the US!?

I enjoyed the course and it’s layout....

We played on a rainy day - nobody behind us or playing and the Marshalls hounded us all day!

To add to insult, and I think it was because we were gaijin, they tried to charge us extra for the extra golf carts. They said at the start we could only use two carts and we set up for two but when we went to leave the staff said take four! Had a good day until we got back to the clubhouse and they tried to charge us 4! They then told us we were playing too slow and other pathetic excuses to justify trying to charge us for their miscommunication and mistake.

The fact they were so rude in dealing with the matter at the end has put us off...
