In the winter, warm yourself under a kotatsu on a boat as you enjoy the sights of Matsue. With your all-day pass you can get on an off at the three different boat piers to view different parts of the city. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I didn’t have to wait long to get on a boat. The two boatmen (I got off then back on a different boat) I road with were entertaining to listen to, and one of them remembered my name later when he was passing by in the boat! Overall, really fun experience to add to my wonderful stay in Matsue. Also, like most the other tourist attractions in the city, the ticket was discounted for foreign passport holders....

I was able to see a different view of Matsue Castle than ever before. It was a perfect fall day to sit under the kotatsu and enjoy the autumnal scenery around Matsue by riverboat.

The driver was very kind and shared lots of interesting facts about the city during the duration of the ride. The matcha and wagashi seemed even more delicious when enjoying them outdoors surrounded by the idyllic castle scenery. The matcha kit was easy to use, and very delicious.

I highly recommend the boat tour. It's a relaxing way to take in historic and modern Matsue, as well as, wildlife. There were plenty of opportunities to get an up-close view of birds (so many herons and ducks), turtles, and fish.
