we visited this museum as a prelude to visting the matsue castle. they have a small but high quality collection of local artefacts arranged to present the history of matsue castle. there is an english audio guide available for free as well discount tickets for non japanese. You can get a combo ticket for museum and castle. they have regular art exhibitions. there is an excellent coffee shop and gift shop.

Nice museum. Require removal of shoes to enter - shoes can be stored in provided lockers. Has a tea house with views of a japanese garden - a few tables with chairs with the main area being tatami covered. Nice macha tea on offer with snacks as sets. There is a display of the traditional Japanese tea house around the end of the hallway. The souvenir shop is directly across the tea house.

This museum was incredible! They have all kinds of interesting artifacts from times past in Japan, they also have a sweet shop, and a tea room. Before you enter the Sweet Shop, there are two giant sculptures made entirely out of Japanese sweets! They're very beautiful.

A spacious and well mantained museum that parallels well with the nearby castle and historic regions. Highly recommend the on site cafe for a quick afternoon tea.

単なる歴史資料物の展示だけでなく、常設展示では、大画面モニターで松江城の成り立ちを、迫力ある映像で紹介されます。 又、小さいモニターでは。郷土の切り絵作家さんの作品で、当時の大店の番頭さんの数十年に渡る日誌のエピソードを紙芝居風に紹介、これも楽しかったです。 実物の日誌が積み上げてありました。 よくぞ書き記し、残されたものと感動! 小泉八雲の朗読が聴けたり、天井スクリーンをくつろいだ姿勢で眺めたり、充分満足できました。 が、ここでのお楽しみはまだありました。 お庭を眺めながら美味しいお茶がいただけます。 和菓子職人さんのあざやかな手さばきで和菓子ができあがる様も素晴らしく、また、とてもおいしかったです。 こちらに入館すると、近くのホーランエンヤ館には無料で入れます。 ホーランエンヤって何？って思われたらぜひ行ってみてください。よーくわかります。そしてホーランエンヤに行ってみたくなりますよ。
