Don Quijote Umeda Main Store — Local services in Osaka

Today (at approximately 7:42 PM on June 24, 2025), I made a purchase at what I was told was Counter No. 7 at the Umeda main store (this counter number was provided by another staff member and may require confirmation). Two female employees were present, and the one who handled my transaction treated me with an appalling level of disrespect. Throughout the entire process, she did not say and instead commanded me using only hand gestures — to pay, to present my passport, to collect my change, and so on. Her facial expressions and body language were not only unprofessional, but also deeply offensive. I felt as though I was being treated with contempt, as if I were not a customer but someone to be ordered around. There was absolutely no reason for her to act this way. She could have easily and courteously spoken to me. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any setting. As this is my first visit to Japan, I was deeply shocked and disappointed. What was supposed to be a joyful shopping experience turned into a humiliating and upsetting ordeal. I have already filed an official complaint and hope that serious action will be taken. The cashier handling my purchase was very rude and slow. I think that she hated customers or hated working there. When my purchase value did not meet the discount-eligible value, she did not say anything but pointed at the screen and the discount coupon in my phone. it took some time for me to understand what she wanted to notify me. Some items needed to be exchanged from empty boxes to actual products, she uttered “ one”, “two”? In the middle of the payment process, she stopped and tied her shoes/scrathed her feet for a while. She should not work there if she really hates customer-serving job. Customers buy, not beg for things from her. The other staff were also very rude except for a very young one working at the stationery counter. When I asked about the tax-free counter, she took to the escalator and showed me the way upstairs. That one star was for her. it was very confusing to navigate in the store. It was supposed to sell a lot of things but foreign customers...

I was deeply shocked by the customer service of a young Japanese female clerk working in the pharmacy section. While I was looking at eye drops, she suddenly started putting nets around the shelves and waved her hands, shouting hysterically, "Get out! Get out! Get out!" She claimed that no medicines could be purchased after 11 PM.

I was so shocked that I briefly thought about asking her, "Do you even know what the English words 'Get out!' you're shouting mean?" But she kept yelling "Get out!" in a nervous and agitated manner.

Feeling flustered, I tried to put the items I had in my basket back on the shelves, but she continued to shout "Get out!" and even pushed me as if to force me out. I considered finding the manager to file a complaint but decided to leave after seeing Google reviews mentioning Don Quijote's poor customer service.
