We stayed there for a week in early Dec 19.
*Getting to Ibis Umeda from KIX I would recommend that you take the Airport Limousine (Bus Stop 5). The bus will take you to Hotel New Hankyu in about 50 minutes (direct bus with no stop in-between) The walk to the hotel is about 10 minutes or less. You can email the hotel to request for direction. They will provide a very useful direction map that come with pictures to guide you. Alternatively, you can navigate through Whity Mall where you need not worry about having to wear your winter coats as the entire route is within enclosed mall. The hotel is on side of Whity East Mall and the exit is 7-72. You will see the CookPark logo (Green Colour logo).
*Location The Hotel is located right on top of Whity underground shopping mall. At the Hotel Lobby, there is a elevator to B1 Whity Mall. Through the mall, you can follow the directional sign and a short walk to Osaka Rail, Hankyu Rail and several subway stations.
*Shopping The Whity Mall will connect you to many other malls. From big shopping mall like Hankyu to fashion shops in HEP 5. We spent every night walking at different malls and didn't manage to cover all. At times we need to figure our way back through the mazes. Just note that the bigger mall like Hankyu closed at 8pm on weekdays.
*Room The Room itself was clean and of reasonable size for 2. This hotel do not have connecting rooms but they provided us 2 rooms side by side. Noise isolation was very good except for rare traffic noise from the sirens of police car or ambulance. Our rooms faced the main road. There is some food smell near the elevator lobby of level 10 but not in the room.
The room Aircon was quiet and it allows you to set the room temperature. Hot and cold water are available for bath.
For phone charging, just bring along your USB cable. No need power adapter. It comes with free WiFi.
*Drinking water. The Hotel do not provide bottled water but they do provide a kettle and a coffee machine. If you preferred to buy bottled. Just take the elevator to B1, exit to Whity Mall and turn right. There is a supermarket just few shops away on your right.
Hotel Breakfast at CookPark Level 1. The breakfast is simple but reasonably good. The restaurant is clean and not smelly. The food throughout the 6 days was almost 95% similarly daily, but we have no complaint. They have bread, fruits, Salad, Udon, Rice, eggs, sausage, Ham etc. After a while, you would also notice that most eateries outside selling the same food regardless you are in Osaka, Kyoto or Nara.
*Food Outlet near Hotel You will not have any problem getting food there. The mall is full of eateries selling Japanese, western, Korean food etc. Also got bakery. You can also go to the higher floor of those shopping mall for restaurants. There is also food courts (I found one near the Hankyu rail station but I forget how to walk there.) We also try Bento from their big supermarket. If you go to Hankyu B1 level at around 7 pm, the bento is 50% off.

Read moreAmazing location, close to multiple shopping malls, department stores (Hanshin and Hankyu), convenience stores (Family Mart, Lawson, 7-11), restaurants, and a shopping street. Right beside the hotel is an entrance to an underground shopping mall, Whity, that also provides sheltered walking access to Osaka Station. Extremely helpful during cold or rainy days.
Staff were polite, friendly, and spoke English. We arrived late for check-in due to unforeseen delays and faced no issues. Check-out was similarly smooth and quick, and we were allowed to leave our suitcases with the front desk for a few hours while we had lunch and did some last-minute shopping before departing. Access to a microwave and drinking water can be found on the ground floor, in the hotel's restaurant.
The rooms are clean, modern, but no-frills. Simple toiletries, as well as coffee/tea are provided, and pyjamas (single-size dressing gowns) as well. I would still recommend bringing your own pyjamas if you're larger sized. Housekeeping comes in every day to make the beds, empty the tiny trash cans, provide fresh pyjamas and towels, and change the linens on request. Heated tap water is provided, as well as heated toilet seats with a bidet. The showers are well-contained so water doesn't get all over the bathroom floor, and had good water pressure.
Also bear in mind that the hotel has some particular rules: you're told not to wear perfume in consideration of future guests, and you're not allowed to invite non-guests into your room. We didn't find these rules to be a bother, but I expect these might deter some looking to book a stay.
Do note that the standard rooms are tiny - about 18 square metres. I would not recommend this for two adults with suitcases, as we found this a tad too small. You won't have much space to pack/unpack your suitcases, or leave them open for ready access to your belongings. If you're travelling light, this is a less of a problem. But if you need space to move around and pack your things, I'd book a...

No welcome gifts.
Service from the female staff at night was terrible. She was very rude to us and refused to give extra pillows, saying there isn’t enough pillows. After a while, she gave in to 2 extra pillows for us. No shower caps, very few amenities available. Staffs during breakfast were rude as well, they’ll push you and barge in the line without excusing themselves.
Breakfast is 7-10am.
During my stay, I encountered several serious issues:
I found plastic in the food and fish bones in dishes that should have been properly prepared. This is not only unacceptable but also a potential health hazard, particularly for children. I have attached the photos. The food was not refilled in a timely manner, leaving guests with limited options as seen in the photos.
The lifts were broken, not 1 but all of them, from 9am-4pm. There is no advance warning of the maintenance as well which caused us a lot of trouble moving our luggages, as not only the main lift to the rooms was broken but the other lift that takes us to the station. Not only that but those with accessibility issues should be aware of this.
Would not recommend this hotel at all.
The hotel is quite hard to find from the station so here’s the directions : From umeda train station, follow the signs of hankyu railway/ hanshin line, till you see whity underground mall, keep going the path past “we love donut”, “mikke”, then you should see east mall. go through it, its a long walk past a supermarket, toilet, restaurant, looking for 7-72 exit. go up a flight of stairs (no escalators/ lift), then follow the signs of ibis umeda hotel. 600yen tax for 3...
