Also Known as Asaichi market!
Well this is one of the favorite place to buy fresh produce in sendai, or Access to fresh, locally grown farm products, but also the place for more reason to show your local love by supporting your favorite market. Hardly 10 min walking distance from Tohoku University or 5 min from Sendai station, I visit here more than once a week during break time also known as Asaichi market or for a short break and refresh myself buying lots and lots of fruits and veggies. For fish lovers or meat lover, you can buy fresh fish here.
During July, Hoya (Sea squirts/ Sea pineapple) that are freshly harvested are sold here.
Although a narrow street, but is so lively that you would want to go there more often. Car commuters can avail paid parking nearby. In addition to cash, many farmers markets now accept credit cards. Just remember to bring your reusable shopping bag! A great way to eat healthy is to put a spectrum of colorful fruits and vegetables on your plate. They are full of great nutrients, including antioxidants and phytonutrients. The more color variety, the better! Farmers markets are kid-friendly. Let your kids pick out something new to try. Then, let them help prepare a meal or choose a snack based on what caught their eye. These cooking resources for kids can help, too.
