Great ferry service We travelled without any booking or idea that we were going to cross over to Irago until we reached Toba and realised we wanted to continue towards mount Fuji.
So we headed to the ferry terminal from the local train station about a 5 min Walker and entered into floor 2f where we easily found the counter and made a very quick reservation on the next ferry which left 30 minutes later.
You do not need to reserve your ticket in advance but only during festive breaks like golden week or Oban as there's about 8 crossings during the day from around 8am to 6pm. Takes only 1 hour and the crossing has a cafe and plenty of seating areas.
Prices are great ranging from 1500 yen for adult walk on passenger to 5000 yen for cars.
Recommendations Great to get across to/from Irago/Toba.
Be warned book your hotel on both sides before leaving especially Irago as it is a very sleepy village with half of the hotels abandoned. Bus from Irago to the nearest local town for onward transport is Tahara.

But seeing the sunset from the Toba departing ferry is well worth the experience. The car booking was smooth and without a hassle (don’t forget to bring your car registration! They determine the fare based on the official car size), and there are plenty of seating spaces. Ise Bay is usually very calm, but there are spaces where you can lie down when...

There is ample seating room and a small cafe on the second level, although you are allowed to sit in your car if you want to. They ask that you be on site at least fifteen minutes prior to departure, and there are several crossings a day (refer to their website). No...
