Don Quijote Hachioji — Local services in Tokyo

Okay... This review is going to be a mixed bag so here it goes. The establishment is huge, it has a little bit of everything you could ever want. It's very much like what I would describe as the "Japanese Walmart". It has it's ups and downs, more UPS than Downs to be fair.

Let's start down...The staff is always exhausted. The items are often misplaced, messy, or just not generally appealing to look at. The building is extremely old, so it's kind of dirty. I took a look at the fire extinguishing units in the ceiling, they are literally clogged with dust, if there were a fire... It's certainly not going to be put out with those ancient relics.

The upsides are that it has so so so so so many different products and all reasonably priced. I think "reasonable" is actually not the best way to put it, it's super affordable. But of course when you go cheaper, you lose quality. The good thing about this place is that you don't lose too much of the quality, I say it's about 60% just as good as if you had gone somewhere and got an expensive one of the same item. Although...it's very difficult to locate what you want because everything seems to be arranged quite randomly, but I don't mind it as I enjoy shopping. Looking around is kind of the fun part- because it's randomness causes you to find a trove of other treasures that you'd like to purchase. You go in looking for one thing and walk out having spent a hundred bucks and not really knowing how it happened. A few good deals sometimes but literally most of the staff on different floors are terrible. Usually middle aged women who expect customers to move as they are cleaning or re stocking during the middle of day and doesn't care at all about customers and treats them as if customers are in their way. I have a few qualms about the way they merchandise their goods as well but that's secondary and I hope management does something about this because I enjoy shopping at this store but every time the cardboard boxes and the attitude of your staff is mainly terrible. Hire me so I can tell them a thing or two about customer service but also...

I sometimes shop here for foreign ingredients and alcohol. Prices are reasonable for most things. I always buy popcorn here because it's sold cheaply in 1kg bags. I also like the kitchen goods section because they have a good selection for reasonable prices. But I avoid shopping here just of the time because it's so hard to find anything and it's often packed with people. Even though it has a lot of unusual or import foods, it rarely has all the...
