UPDATE: The commissary has now marked some items as "sale items" but all they did was jack up the price and put it to the the price it originally had. Bought Chobani yogurt at $5.14 originally, now it's also on sale for $5.14... original price being $5.86.. it never was that. Deceptive commissary and staff should be ashamed. AAFES funded commissaries destroy this place. Below average commissary. I was stationed in Misawa before, a small base in the middle of nowhere and the prices were not only much better there but they were actually stocked most of the time. This commissary is only good for getting the few products that you can't find in a Japanese supermarket, and even those are ridiculously overpriced. Selling PREVIOUSLY FROZEN meat for the same price is as fresh meat is an absolute joke and the Yokosuka Commissary needs to get their stuff together or find management that can. Employees are only there for the pay and don't give any care to customer service.

They forgot the avocado and charged me for it. They also forgot the vinegar. They ALSO put pastrami on the sandwich when I asked for Salami. Finally, I asked for my sandwich to be hot and they put it in a panini press instead of the toaster oven, so the insides were cold. How wrong can you get? Just do yourself a favor and walk off base for lunch.

I know as military members we do not pay tax at the commissary. However, can someone explain what the extra "Surcharge" is for. I feel this is not necessary, if my math is mathing it's about 5% which is about the same as a food tax in locations in the states. Also, why are A LOT of the items close to expiring or have expired. We deserve better!

The commissary was a lifesaver when we first got here because we were not sure where else to shop. I would however recommend venturing off base for some groceries. Fruits and vegetables grown in the area are cheaper off-base obviously. You can still find most things you need in a Japanese grocery but they up charge for American brands if that makes sense. In conclusion, though the commissary is super convenient for people on base and in recent months I feel like their prices have dropped. The customer service is superb and the store is kept very clean. Just recently got reorganized so locations for some things have changed. But everything is still fairly easy to find since it...

Yokosuka Commissary pales in comparison to stateside commissary stores when it comes to Organic products. I have sworn off of GMO foods, High Fructose Corn Syrup, and products that contain MSG for example. A lot of people in Yokosuka want to feed their families a healthier diet, but it is tough. The Navy Exchange is carrying more Organic items now which is helpful, but I like getting my food items at the Commissary. Also, all Commissary stores stateside carry Boar's Head Deli products. Why can't we get these items here for our hard working service members? Don't they deserve the selection of products available at let's say Camp Lejeune which has an excellent...
