Overview: The place seems to be overhyped. If the house DJ is playing, you might want to consider other clubs. But if you don’t care about good music, this is a great place for you.
The drinks: We only had two drinks. (We had a few at Porfirio’s beforehand.) Both drinks were good. $250mxn each.
The music: Bad. I love clubbing and dancing. The crowd (fairly small for a Saturday night) wanted to dance, but the DJ was not bringing anything you could dance to. The DJ pulled out some decent songs, like Body Funk by Purple Disco Machine, but it was generally disappointing. Ironically, we ate at Porfirio’s next door, and they had much more danceable music during dinner, like Mirianela (Que Pasa) by Hugel. (Anderson’s Group owns both H-Roof and Porfirio’s by the way.) Perhaps the H-Roof DJs should get some help from the person in charge of music at Porfirio’s?
Staff: The staff was great. Bouncers/security were great too. The bartender asked if my drink was okay. I thought it could use more mint, so she put it back in the shaker, muddled more mint, and served it up again. That’s very attentive!
Prices: The cover when the house DJ is playing is $500mxn, which includes access to the dance floor. If they bring in a bigger name, the cover is $2000mxn which includes access to the dance floor or $500mxn which is only access to the bar.
Atmosphere: The place is nice. It’s fairly large. I have seen nicer clubs, but the interior is a 8/10. The light/strobe programming is quite good as well. If the place were to get packed, I could see room to dance being an issue as the actual dance floor is pretty small.
Other: They had a free photo booth. That made the...
Read moreNot the usual tourist place and the music is the best in Cancun. Missed on my last trip but will be going this week Friday. Was there in July - I like Friday's better - seems to be a different crowd on Saturday for some reason. Service is excellent and bar tenders provide good service - blond bartender and her bartender partner - I think Raul are great and friendly. Bought ticket online one time but got cancelled for some event - their anniversary I think - told them I will just buy a bottle of Ciroc at the bar - that worked. More locals than tourists - I thought they were more friendly than the tourist. Music, sound system, service, and people are what makes this place so great - this is not the flip flop and shorts crowd - more upscale. You can dress casual but I didn't see people in t shirts and shorts - the women who go there dress to the nines but the guys are more casual - dress shirt and jeans. The only issue I usually have going there is the door man - always a hassle - sometimes I go alone - don't make assumptions about the person - I can well afford this place but I dress casual. Always "Do you have a reservation" - I don't make reservations when I am going alone - I am not getting a table but I may buy a bottle at the bar. The H Roof slogan is "Not for Everyone" and they are right but if you want upscale go to H Roof - if you want mobs go to the party zone. They also bring in top DJ's from time to time but I think the house DJ is just as good. Overall a...
Read moreVisitors beware!!! I was recommended this rooftop bar from the concierge at my hotel. The establishment was nice but the staff was unpleasant and racist. It is unfortunate that this is still a present issue, especially in Mexico when most natives are of color. To the owners and management team of the bar please educate and train your staff on customer service and respect towards others. This place is not friendly to Puerto Rican’s, Cubans , Dominicans or Colombians of color which was the majority...
