Avoid this place. Waiters are too clingy and don’t allow you to have a nice dinner with your guests. And when you decide to order something that is less expensive on their menu, they act if you are wasting their time.
In their attempt to provide impeccable service, they miss the mark by hovering over you the whole time. Three staff members stood over us as we ate, cracking jokes with each other while we tried to enjoy our night out.
Food was over seasoned and gave one of our guests food poisoning that lasted two days. At one point we ordered the Volcano Ribeye which is like a taco/tostada with supposed ribeye cut up On it. Didn’t look or taste like ribeye. The manager of our table came over and asked if we wanted shredded cheese on our volcanos ribeye. We said sure. He then brought out a piece of cheese that was no bigger than his thumb and attempted to shred it over our meat. The cheese was not shredding but getting stuck on the grater because it was not a type of soft cheese you did not shred. He lost a grip on the cheese a couple times and was gripping it several Different ways with his bare hands. Since the shredding didn’t work, he just threw the lump of cheese on the ribeye taco and then brought out a small blow torch and tried to melt it. Some of the cheese was slowly melting but he was also burning the meat and it stunk the table up. He then left the partially melt cheese and burnt meat where it was and left the table and said “Enjoy”.
I have had better tacos on a backroad taqueria than this. And this was just tacos. If they handle their food prep this poorly in front of us, I can’t imagine what is happening behind the scenes. No wonder we had a case of food poisoning.
La Madalena is a sad attempt at being a high scale restaurant. We will never go back and I would advise you to never step in there as well. Just because you have a fancy entrance and a video graphic on the ceiling does not make you a high scale restaurant. High quality food and staff (like Nicoletta down the street) will make you a high tier restaurant.

Read moreAn Unforgettable Experience at La Madalena
Our recent visit to La Madalena in Cancun was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, we were immersed in an unforgettable atmosphere. We were immediately captivated by the stunning atmosphere. The ambient lighting and led ceiling created a visual experience we've never had anyway before. The service at La Madalena was off the charts. Our 5-6 servers were uber attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had a fantastic dining experience. Every detail was meticulously attended to and nothing was overlooked. The food was simply incredible. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. We started with a "small" Caesar salad that feed our table of four, followed by appy pork tacos and popcorn shimp. Our mains were the cheaper filet steaks and the salmon garlic chili. Steaks were cooked perfectly and sliced at the table. The carrot cake dessert was the perfect end to a stellar meal and fed all four of us. Drinks are also fantastic with our own private mixologist standing by. Price was moderate, but quality and service was exceptional. In our opinion La Madalena is a must-visit for anyone in the Cancun hotel zone looking for an exceptional dining experience. The combination of stunning atmosphere, impeccable service, and delectable food makes it a standout restaurant. Looking forward to...
Read moreWe arrived 10 minutes late our reservation of 10:50. When we arrived we told the lady at the desk. The lady at the desk was the most rude condescending person I’ve encountered in my 16 years of eating locally in Cancun.
The lady that took our reservation acted although as if the reservation didn’t exist. She told us we should be patient and there shouldn’t be no problem, and we would be introduced in a few minutes. WE HAD TO WAIT FOR 45 MINUTES, FOR A RESERVATION…
We got fed up with this rude lady, so we asked her to call the restaurant manager. The restaurant manager was “busy”, so it seemed as if she never actually even called him. Once we got inside we also requested him, and it was as if he didn’t exist since he was “off site”.
I have eaten locally in many restaurants, however this is a new group that I had never heard from before. This restaurant is mainly surviving from tourism with their overservice which can be overwhelming.
I’m only giving it three stars because the service inside did everything in their power to make the experience as smooth as possible even with the bad experience we had encountered. the manager-in charge ( Hiram) managed the situation wonderfully and his experience and abilities exceed the worth of this horrible restaurant. He saved the experience and made...
