Rocking our Cancun Experience at the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun and mentioning the Outstanding Service from Monica and Josue at Customer services. We are investors in another large hotel complex in the USA and seldom do we write review's but felt it was time to put pen to paper and give credit where it’s due
The Hard Rock Hotel Cancun stands as a vibrant beacon in Cancun's Hotel Zone, offering an all-inclusive experience that aims to immerse guests like ourselves in a world of rock and roll glamour, lively entertainment, and delectable dining. Based on other numerous customer reviews and general insights into the resort, it's clear that the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun succeeds in delivering on its promise, providing a memorable and often exceptional vacation for its guests. In our case there was a couple of little hiccups that prompted my calling of management but that’s were their customer service really stood out and turned excellent in to superb
One of the most consistently praised aspects of the Hard Rock Hotel is its energetic and engaging atmosphere. From the moment guests arrive, they are greeted with a "rock and roll" theme evident in the memorabilia adorning the walls, the guitar-shaped rotunda, and the music-inspired decor throughout. This theme permeates the resort's offerings, from the daily activities and live shows to the very design of the rooms. We frequently attended a huge array of entertainment options, including live music, DJ sets by the pool, and various engaging activities, ensuring there's always something to do and a lively vibe that keeps the energy high.
The all-inclusive natureof the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun is a significant draw, allowing guests like oursleves to relax and indulge without worrying about constant expenses. This typically covers meals, snacks, drinks (including top-shelf liquor), and 24-hour room service. The food quality and variety was fantastic. We see others often commend the diverse culinary offerings, with multiple restaurants serving Mexican, Asian, Italian, and international buffet fare. While some individual preferences may vary, we found the food to be delicious and varied, with particular praise for the quality of the à la carte dining experiences. The convenience of room service further enhances the dining experience, providing flexibility and yes we abused it !!
The facilities at the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun are also a highlight. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is a stunning feature, complete with swim-up bars that prove to be popular hubs of activity and where we spent many lazy mornings.
Like any large resort, the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun does have a few recurring points of feedback and some guests we see have noted that the resort can get rowdy particularly in the swim-up bar areas, which might not appeal to those seeking a more tranquil experience. For is that was not the case at all and a picture of my son in law and myself pool side shows how relaxed it is. There have also been occasional mentions of maintenance issues in rooms or a lack of loungers by the pool during peak times. While the entertainment is a major plus, some guests suggest that dinner reservations can sometimes be challenging to secure, highlighting the importance of booking early. Having been in the business we strive for perfection maintenance issues do occur especially with popular hotels like this but the key element is they will be and are addressed with no wait. I wanted my review to be factual for anyone who reads it.
Now, turning to the crucial aspect of our own customer experience and service , this is where the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun truly has the potential to shine, and individual staff members like Monica and Josue who we dealt with made an indelible impact. While general reviews often praise the staff for being friendly, attentive, and going "above and beyond" to ensure guests feel pampered, specific mentions of exemplary service I wire truly underscore the resort's commitment to guest satisfaction. This is the hotels icing on the cake and they...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel from March 10th to March 14th, 2025, and unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience.
The Bad: Unfortunately, my stay was marred by several issues. I fell due to the hotel's negligence during a rainy day when water accumulated indoor in the hallway near Cafetto and the hallway to the business rooms. I was initially told that I could either be taken to the resort doctor (at a fee) or an ambulance could be called. However, when filling out the necessary forms, I was rushed and not allowed to read them fully. I felt like the hotel was more concerned about protecting itself from potential legal issues rather than addressing my injury.
Although I was contacted daily in the days following my injury, I was not provided with any pain relief medication, and was informed that the hotel couldn't offer any. I had to ask my husband to buy something from a pharmacy. On the third day, the concierge offered to send me to a doctor free of charge, apologizing for previous miscommunication, but I declined as I was already managing with medication however, I still have a bruise from the injury.
Upon receiving the room, we notice a horrid smell. Turns out the room had been recently painted. Despite our efforts to air it out, it lingered. Eventually, after their own internal investigation the hotel offered us a room change, but it took three hours to sort out, meaning we did not settle into our new room until 7 PM.
Concierge initially seemed helpful, but as our stay neared its end, they failed to follow up. I reported a clogged drain on Tuesday, but by Friday it was still unresolved. When I contacted Gerry for assistance via whatsapp, I was left without a response.
Additionally, my husband was turned away from making a reservation at Toro because we did not have a room number, which seems inconsistent with standard practices at other Hard Rock resorts. At Zen, I arrived at 4:50 PM and found no one available to take reservations.
There were also issues with the vacation planners, who repeatedly tried to change the agreed price for the Balinese beds, which were far from the "hot commodity" I had been led to believe. At checkout, I was charged $198 more than expected due to an issue with the resort credits. I had to visit their desk for clarification, where the situation was poorly handled by a particularly rude and condescending employee.
This employee wrongly claimed I was charged for a tour upgrade I had already paid for directly with the marina. She dismissed my concerns about missing the shuttle in a rude tone, saying it wasn’t her fault I waited until the last minute to check out and review the charges. The mistake was ultimately on the resort’s end—they charged me twice for the same excursions, but no apology was offered. Despite this, I was able to catch my shuttle on time, but the entire experience was extremely disappointing on our last day.
I was also disappointed by the lack of an itemized bill prior to checkout, which has always been standard practice at other resorts. I expected a smooth and easy check-out process, but this was not the case.
The Good: On a positive note, the staff at the restaurants and bars were consistently kind and welcoming. I never encountered any issues with the service, and when I accidentally left my phone at Frida, they safely kept it for me, which I greatly appreciated.
The spa experience was wonderful. I had an amazing massage with Leo, and my manicure and pedicure were perfect, thanks to the kind and personable technician.
Lastly, when we had an issue with loud and disruptive neighbors at 3 AM, security promptly addressed the situation, and the hotel followed up the next day to ensure everything was resolved.
In conclusion, while there were some positive aspects of my stay, the numerous issues I encountered make it difficult for me to recommend the Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun to friends or family. The experience even turned us off from attending the legendary presentation we originally...
Read moreDO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ THE WHOLE REVIEW BEFORE BOOKING! First of all, the Staff is FANTASTIC! None of what wasn’t great, was not at all their fault! Worn Out Rooms: we had two adjoining rooms because it was me, my husband and our four children. Rooms: (the rooms on the website are NOT what you get) Although our room was clean, but the “dinginess” was significant. It’s clear the property is older and maintaining can only do so much. There are hot tubs in each room, however, they look so discolored and old - who wants to sit in that? Gross! By the way, there were plenty of newer rooms that they could’ve put us in, but they chose not to. NOISE: the room that we stayed in was extremely close to wherever construction was being done. We got woken up every morning at 8:30 AM with booms and bangs and drilling and sawing, etc. It was very, very loud. The resort people, who were very nice about it, offered to relocate our rooms, but couldn’t guarantee that we would be adjoining with my children. That was not acceptable. They had no answer for me when I asked why they would even put us in that room to begin with when they are aware of the noise situation. There was no answer. I work every day in my regular life and I went away to sleep a little bit later and not get woken up and startled out of my sleep. I set an alarm every morning at 8 AM because I did not wish to get startled out of my sleep. FOOD: the all-inclusive aspect of this resort is wonderful. The food is phenomenal. The options are limitless! Our favorite restaurant, by far, was Ciao. We were taken care of very well, several times, by Hector, Sean, Paul, and one night a special dinner was made for me and my family. By chef Alexis, who is very talented! Hands-down, best restaurant choice in the resort. There is an extremely long wait, about three hours for a table at Toro if you don’t get there for 15 minutes before it opens each day. Who wants to wait three hours for a table? Not me. The food was very good though. DRINKS: they are watered down terribly. My husband and I are not much of drinkers so it usually just takes us each one drink. We could have had five drinks and you could tell there was such a minimal amount of alcohol in each drink. Gym: the gym is well equipped, and kept clean, but some machines do not work. The gentleman that works in there, Arturo, is so absolutely wonderful and helpful and can’t do enough for you! He made the experience even better. Shows/Entertainment: Michell, who is at the shoes does a great job! The Mexican party was fabulous and so much fun! We enjoyed the Michael Jackson show but the Queen Tribute was excellent! Pool/Beach: the pool is fabulous! The beach was not as enjoyable as we wished it would have been, but that’s nobody’s fault. We went during the time of year that there was a horrible amount of seaweed. The waters were very rough as well. Again, that’s not anybody’s fault. Spa: five out of the six of us went for massages and they were wonderful! My masseuse was Fernando. He was GREAT! I did go for a facial as well, with Ilya, he was equally GREAT! *Keep in mind, the credit you get with your room is actually 65% toward services, it is NOT 100% covered- you will have to pay 35% and the services are not cheap. Beware, it’s a scam! Why not just say “You get 65% off spa services”? Solicitation: They try to sell you timeshare, they do not stop until you agree to meet with them! Overall, while there were many enjoyable parts of the trip, the negative experiences overshadowed them. For the price and expectations at a Hard Rock property, we expected much better. I would rate this stay 3 stars and unfortunately would not recommend Hard Rock Cancun to anyone, especially when there are many other resorts in the area offering better facilities, service, and guest experience. Hard Rock properties, in general, seem to have run down facilities. I had a negative experience in Atlantic City, NJ and also in Orlando, Florida. Do...
