This place came recommended by somebody that have dove with them before. I contacted and advised I was arriving on a cruise ship, I gave date and time of docking. After confirmation I paid in advance for a morning two tank drive trip. Before leaving I contacted and gave again my date and time of arrival. The day before arriving contacted from ship and confirmed. The Dive Center said they would wait for my arrival at their shop at 8:30cst. We dock and I arrived at the Dive Center at 8:30cst and just found one employee he asked if I was Berney and I assured him I was. I was given paperwork to fill out. I informed I had done that ahead of time and scanned and emailed. He said they did not have I did it again. He also said need my C-Card I also said I had scanned and emailed again he said they did not have. After all this he said I need to pay, I told him I had paid in advanced I was told they had no record. Thank goodness I had brought a copy of the receipt from PayPal showing I had paid. Then I waited for about an hour the kept calling on the radio and making cell phone calls. We then walked across the street to the docks and waited more. There was no dive boat. When I asked I was told they had no boat. Finally a boat arrived I boarded and we left just myself and the boat skipper. We then arrive at another dock and I was told to get off and go to a building on the dock. I am now at another dive shop and told I have to fill out paperwork, when I informed I had done he told me this was another dive shop that I did not know anything about and I was being farmed out to them. I knew nothing of this place. I am then informed that Scuba Mau just farms out divers to other places. I refuse to go anywhere with them as I knew nothing of who I would be diving with. I then see I had been scammed. This place called the other shop and I get the excuse that the boat I was to be on waited on me and they left at 8:00. I had written confirmation that they would wait until I arrived. Again this was all a big LIE. I told them I would call my Credit Card Company and deny charges as well as I was contacting PayPal. I waited until I got my refund before writing this review. Please stay away from this place as they are a BIG SCAM. They try and get you to pay twice and would have unless I had my receipt. They also just farm you out to whatever place they can find a spot. POOR EXCUSE OF A PADI DIVE SHOP....
Read moreI’ll preface this review by saying that my husband and I have been diving all over the world, logging over 500 and 600 dives respectively. I can confidently say we’ve had plenty of experience diving with different dive shops and liveaboards - seeing which ops are great, which are just ok, and which leave something to be desired.
We’ve just spent the last three weeks diving with the Scuba Mau team here on Cozumel. I can’t tell you how much we’ve enjoyed our time with them (we’re so sad to leave now!), but more importantly, we have truly valued their dedication to safety and appreciated the fact that it is their own boat that we are diving from each day.
During our time diving in Cozumel, we were greeted personally by Mau many of the mornings. We’ve been fortunate to have all three of Mau’s guides as our dive guides: Jesús, Alex and Rafi. They’ve been thorough with the safety briefings, site explanations and fantastic with spotting critters. They still get excited with that “cool find” or when an eagle ray or turtle cruises by.
Captain Rafi and crew member Alex have been so helpful with our gear, both getting our kit set up, helping us into our BCDs, hauling up gear so we didn’t have to climb the ladder with it, troubleshooting issues, etc.
After every day of diving, our dive bags with all of our gear was taken back with them, rinsed and was back on board the next morning, UNLOADED and the correct weights were waiting for us to add to our BCDs. Super, super service, guys!
I especially want to give a big shout out to dive guide Alex, who went ABOVE and BEYOND on one of our night dives when he descended back down to retrieve my dive light that I had accidentally unclipped (instead of unclipping my camera to hand up). Thank you, Alex!! 🙏🏻
We’ve had such a great experience this first time on Cozumel that we are already planning our return next year. Thanks so...

What an amazing 9 days we had diving with Scuba Mau! They are incredible people and responsible divers! They want their clients to have the best dives possible! Aside from being, kind, fun, and making you feel like family, they are extremely well trained and safety is their priority. There were no more than 4 divers per guide so it was really personalized!
They manage to make all of this work seamlessly. Jesus, Alex, and Raffi were our dive guides for the week and we cannot wait to go back and dive with them again! Our dives mattered to them! They pointed out nudis and tiny stuff we would not have seen!
The boat and captains are great! They took us to incredible dive sites every day! Honestly, I could not have imagined a better plan for getting to dive so many different spots. Eagles Rays, octopus, nudis, common rays, thornback rays, nurse sharks, barracuda, file fish, moray eels, beautiful coral, loggerhead turtles and more! The dive guides and instructors were beyond incredible at every site! Lastly, our adult son got NAUI certified during this week and the level of professionalism and training was exemplary. Not one step was skipped. He did it all and Scuba Mau and Cindy Sieman gave him an incredibly solid OW course to build his future diving upon. His first dive after certification was a night dive and we did it as a family with Jesus! He gave us the most incredible experience as the sun set and we descended to a most incredible night dive.
Scuba Mau will be our Cozumel dive family from now on. If I could give them more than 5...
