CENTRO MAYA — Local services in Playa del Carmen

This mall has some great stores and shopping options, but I’m honestly so frustrated with the restroom situation. Every single time I visit, there’s either no toilet paper, no hand soap, or both. This last time, my daughter had to go and—surprise—still no toilet paper, but hey, at least this time there was watered down soap. I guess I should be thankful?

It’s honestly unacceptable that a mall with this much foot traffic can’t maintain basic hygiene in their restrooms. It’s not just inconvenient—it’s gross. If you’re coming here, I highly recommend bringing your own toilet paper, especially if you have kids. Or better yet, just head over to Plaza de las Americas Mall, where their restrooms are usually clean and stocked.

Good for the grocery and Supermarket, the stores mostly offer medium quality stuff. The outlet with allegedly famous brands is somehow lacking style lol! I didnt find anything trendy but maybe its because the difference to europe. The toilets are not very inviting. The best store was is the oriental Souvenirshop, forgot its name. High quality stuff there. We also bought frames for glasses in one of the eyeglasses Shop, nice quality aswell. But overall if youre looking for other stuff than grocery things you will not find much interessting. The Centro Maya is a medium-sized shopping mall just across the main road from the Playacar complex. Apart from clothing stores and the Soriana hypermarket, the mall also offers a food court, a gym and a cinema. Although the shopping center per se is not necessarily worth a visit, the Soriana hypermarket is a good place to buy Mexican groceries and specialties and the prices are significantly lower than in the tourist shops inside the Playacar complex and the shops in Playa del Carmen itself.
