For the drinks, we opted for the 63% Miann House Chocolate and 70% Norandino Peru. Both were of top quality and obviously had distinctive taste each so were definitely not scamming anyone just by using multiple fancy names. The former was slightly sweeter probably because of the lower percentage and that marmalade note. Not charging extra for choice of almond milk was a bonus.
Moving on to desserts, the "highly recommended" Chocolate Platter was nothing exceptional but a showcase of the cafe being specialized in Chocolates making, but not necessarily creation of fine patisseries especially most among the six were far from dark enough to our liking - macaron was not well made and brownie was very ordinary. However, the Chocolate Fondant made with 70% Sierra Nevada was to die for - made to perfection with smooth velvety molten center sprinkled with cocao nibs accompanied by chocolate shards and mousse, though the innovative but overpowering chilli chocolate sorbet was not really a match for such dessert. As a side note, a brown plate to serve a chocolate cake was wrong.
Staff were very friendly. It was indeed very pricey and it might or might not worth it depending on what you order - for us overall it was a...
Read moreI ordered 3 celebration cakes for an event. I was amazed at how amazing they looked and exactly as pictured on the website...i give u guys 3 stars for that!, the taste was ok. Too heavy with hazelnuts. The same biscuit base in all 3 very different cakes, all ended up being too similar to be fun or enjoyable. The whole nuts was off putting for me. There was no escape from them. They were crushed up , they were whole, they were everywhere. Im sorry but i didnt read that in the description that they are all hazelnut orientated. The dulce de liche had very little of that caramel... for 250.00 i think i came away with an intense dislike of hazelnuts .Very very disappointing, thats why i took 2 stars away.
Thank u for ur response, i get that the dulce delice had hazelnuts all through, but so did the caramello tart. Hardly caramelly . The strawberries and cream heart too has the same biscuit face that adds to the same flavour. If i had just bought one, i wouldnt see them all being so similar ( biscuit base, whole hazelnuts) but i bought 3 ....the nanes and descriptions were different , but the overalll taste profile was the same, maybe...
Read moreA chocolate factory?! Yes please ☺😌
Miann Chocolate Factory & Store sits tucked away from the main road (New North Road). There is limited parking, but is well worth the effort 🚗🚗
They make all their chocolates and products on site. They sell all forms of sweet treats, decadent seasonal treats 🍫, and world class craft chocolates, as well as gelato and sorbet 🍦 They have an online store as well👩💻
The shop is quaint, and the staff are very friendly 🙂😀
They are open until 10pm on most days. There is outside seating benches, but they have these lovely, beautifully decorated glass pods that you can sit in, to protect you from the elements, while you sip on a hot chocolate drink during cold, wet, winter nights ❄🧣
I opted for their tasting plate, which changes regularly, and includes their best sellers. It was amazing! The lemon meringue was my absolute favourite, although all of them were delicious 😋😋
I was a bit disappointed that they don't sell coffee. They only sell all things cocoa and chocolate related, and tea. I opted for Rooibos tea (a South African herbal favourite), infused with...
