The Beer Spot has several locations, this review is for the Auckland Morningside outpost on New North Road.

This was the largest draft selection of beer I've encountered during my month long tour of New Zealand. As my girlfriend is apt to remind me, large does not always equal enjoyable, but in this case it most certainly does. The Beer Spot boasts a well curated regional selection of ales and lagers in a range of serving sizes. There are to go options, and even cider and wine (which I did not try). The glasses were clean, the prices fair and the service knowledgeable and swift. The tasting notes were quite welcome.

A few potential issues - the space is open and somewhat loud and industrial. Difficult to read beer menu without getting close to the 'beer wall'. The large room does not exactly lend itself to settling in. No food offered directly but The Beer Spot does have food trucks outside on the regular and rotate weekly.

Recommended to stop in to sample some of the fine beers New Zealand is cranking out. The Beer Spot turned out to be a great start to a night crawl through the boppin'...

Beers on tap with an excellent variety to choose from. Seems to be a 'happening place', as noticed a good amount of people in groups coming in or leaving. When you see everyone (well almost all!) leaving with a 'wide' smile, you know it's not just the spirits! Yes, the place has a quiet buzz and feel-good factor. Could see animated conversations with most over late twenties. They have a food van that dishes out various different types of cuisines, every week! Breaks the monotony. And for those who may want to feel even 'lighter' at the end of the visit to this Beer Spot, there is a barber to boot, neatly tucked down in one corner to clip, however you want your mane to be 'addressed'! At your service over the weekends only. There are about half-a-dozen parking lots available for guests. A happy...

What's the secret to a great 'beer spot'? Well, great beer, obviously. But the world of beer is ever expanding, and the truly great beer aficionados will recognise that the value in a venue lies not in quantity, or even just quality - but curation. The Beer Spot in Morningside has the expertise to shepherd some and guide others to great beers, and their staff is passionate and well-informed. Great personnel is the secret to a fantastic beer spot. Great curation. This is what the Beer Spot has - hopefully it continues to recognise that greatness is in te tangata, te...

Nice new pub in Morningside. It has at least 40 beers on tap, along with a handful of wines and other non-beer drinks (I assume ciders but I didn't look too close). Each week they have a different food truck in so you should have a good selection of different food to keep you coming back to get through all the different beers. Staff were friendly and helpful, explaining any different beers, but also offering tasting. You can also get tasting paddles too if you can't make up you mind. Heaps of space inside, and a handful of outdoor tables. Free WiFi if you want it.
