I came to the Morningside Tavern on a quiz night.
The atmosphere of the place is trendy and up-market. A nice built environment. Quick service if you order at the bar (see below).
A range of options for different dietary needs (gluten free, dairy free options are clearly listed on the menu). I did not eat anything whilst at the tavern, but loved to see this on the menu.
The reason Iām giving a low scoring review was because of my experience with the non-alcoholic drinks.
I checked the menu before going, then decided to order through the QR code on the table. Ordered a Sweet 16 mocktail. It didnāt come for a few rounds of the quiz, so went up to the bar, and they made it for me. Iām just not sure why the order never went through to the bar even though I had paid (and had the e-receipt for it).
And I found that the QR code menu was different for non-alcoholic beverages were different from those on the menu. Iām not sure why this was, either, but I spotted a couple of drinks on there I was keen to try. So after I had my first drink, I went to the bar (since QR ordering didnāt work) and ordered a nojito (listed on the QR ordering menu, but not the paper menu). The server said they didnāt make those (why can you order them via QR?), so I tried ordering a house soda (which was on the QR app AND paper menu) and he said they donāt do those (even after making sure they didnāt make the thing literally listed on the menu).
This seems small, but itās really irritating when the menu is inaccurate.
Please align the QR and paper menus, and remove stuff thatās not make-able.
If the staff canāt serve one item on the menu, it would be great for them to suggest something else that would be similar, rather than...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWE WERE OVERCHARGED $50 HERE! By the white skinny man at the bar. My husband went and paid for our meals which he paid $185 which sounded funny to me as we had only ordered 4 meals and 2 jugs of soda?! I then calculated everything and to my surprise we were right. And to confirm this my husband walked back to the bar looking at the man that charged him, the man had a guilty look in his face telling me already that man knew what he had done. Trying to ignore my husband he walks away acting like he was going to serve another customer so then a lady serves my husband. My husband asked the lady for his receipt where she asked him to pay $135 my husband told the lady he already paid $185 pointing to the man who charged him. They gave us a refund and apologised. This wasnāt an honest mistake as we could tell by the guilty look on the manās face he knew what he had done adding an extra $50 to our bill. My husband has broken English I can only think that the man thought because my husband canāt speak English properly that makes him too stupid to count too? This was very unfortunate and quite embarrassing because my sister in-law from overseas was with us and we had to deal with this, if she wasnāt with us best believe my Karen would have come out. However the food was amazing and the waitresses were so lovely so kind and welcoming.
No Dave it was no mix up with tables we were the only ones sitting at the booths also the only brown people there also I smiled and waved at the man when my husband went to pay when he asked my husband which...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was good. Watch how they charge you though. Two areas that I had a problem with the first was completely unacceptable and the second was legally wrong and a bad experience. The first unacceptable one is the guy used the till system to split the bill, which if you multiplied the amount by the number of people ended up in about $50 dollars in extra charges. The guy did the maths on his phone, said oh its wrong, but now that ive split the bill you have to pay the new total, even though it was overcharging. He kept using the excuse of its not me, its the Point of Sale machine. It is completely unacceptable for a business to not be able to reconcile the payments to an invoice. The second issue I had was there was a special on their website of Stella for $5 on their website, when I pointed it out to them they said that's wrong well take it down immediately. 5 hours later when it was still up I asked again about getting the drinks for their advertised price and they said no, ive already said it was a mistake. They made no effort to rectify the mistake or to acknowledge that there was no way we could of known it was a mistake. A few lines above it said this section should be hidden or something like that, but there was no way to know if it was talking about that section or the one below that had the issue. The service of food/drinks was great, just let down with...
