The best thing about this is. It's states what it is a PIE shop and a PIE shop you get with amazing staff who enjoys a korero here or there and excellent customer service. Never seen this place in my life and was relying on Google maps to get us from A to B and I'm glad it made us drive back because I asked my husband politely to stop pretty please I'm hungry for pies lol I got the steak and blue cheese pie and the chicken and cheese jalapeño pie and I'm a custard pie fan so I had to get that too. Guess what I was is awe. The crust, the amount of meat and gravy in both pies were ON ON ON. I couldn't get over the balance of shredded steak I had in every bite oozing out and I love blue cheese so no fault at all in the pie. Now hang on the Chicken Cheese Jalapeño was next level out of this universe. My daughter scabbing off me and kept scabbing. Her mince and cheese was already amazing but the flavours, the kick, the right amount of gravy and chicken. Let's just say every time my daughter is going to her besties I'm going to stop in for a pie or 2. Last but not least the plain custard pie. The delicate custard that melts in your mouth with the crunchy layer crust. BRAAAAAAAHHHH that's all I could think about and I was bloody full and didn't eat until dinner and yep just thinking about Muzzas Pies. "Nga mihi" I'll see you hopefully soon. More reason to keep hitting the gym so I don't feel guilty coming here when I want a pie or 2 lol or 3 including the...
Read moreAfter my 3rd or 4th visit back i was met with teenagers not using utensils to touch the sausage rolls (male). Pies were hoy labeled by the female assistant and instead of using tongs she used her hands to pull the pies out to see what they were to label them. I mean come on. Who wants their food fingered? Touched? That is not ok! Get it together. You guys are meant to be amongst the best, not jsut pies its staff and service too. Dont ever man handle my food after youve touched counters, fridges etc. That is not ok.
As seen i had positive stuff to write before. Not this time.
I used to come here alot when I studied at Unitec. Today was a revisit after many years. Had the steak and cheese, steak and mushroom and pork sausage roll. Pies are jam packed with tender beef, absolutely delicious. Pies should be piping hot and these did not disappoint in taste and temperature. The sausage roll was really tasty too. Took home an apple and blueberry pie, this was ok. Will try more pies and another dessert...
Read moreFinally had a fresh pie from here, following a disappointment with a closed store, then a disappointment with an empty store and having to get frozen pies. Don't get me wrong, the Muzza's frozen pies were delicious, but there's nothing like a freshly baked pie.
Also, steak and kidney! Damn, this pie was delicious and I understand and endorse the widespread enthusiasm for Muzza's pies. These pies are superior to, say, Richoux Patisserie's pies. Definitely a notch above. Although, having said that, I'd prefer the kidney chunks a bit smaller and then beef in chunks of similar size, rather than shredded; and less gloopy with a bit more filling.
And it's good to have a Muzza's nearby - it's definitely worth the extra 20 minutes' further walk from Boston Bakery. It will be my go-to for steak and kidney.
Nevertheless, still, I'm afraid to say... the pie did not measure up to Green Bay Oven Fresh Bakery's pies. Absolute units filled with chunks of beef, not gloopy, but...
