I have been buying from this butcher for over 15 years through a few ownership changes. Generally good. However, lately it has been very annoying that every time I buy whole pre-priced chicken for curry pieces or whole chicken you guys remove the tail and part of the wing even if I asked not to, 50% of the time you do still remove it and don’t know what you do with it, perhaps make a dish. . What do you do with it and why do you keep it because that’s part of the whole chicken price. If dressing that chicken was the process by removing the tail and parts of the wing then your whole thigh leg pieces that are weighed on purchase have the tails and your chicken wings and nibble have those bits, so it’s not about dressing the chicken in a certain way i am sure. So it is very annoying. Today I cooked chicken again and the tail was missing and parts of the wings were missing too. Over 15 to 20 years every second week I spent about $150-$200 at your shop ( that’s good business ) everything else has been good but you guys need to improve this process please. Maybe ask the customer rather than Customer asking , reminding etc, and if they forget you...
Read moreEfpos machine stealing money! Be Very Careful! The point of sale system says $92.80 but their efpos machine shows $95.58 to pay. I understand that most places charges 3% credit card surcharge automatically when you use pay wave but Northshore meat centre add the surcharge to the amount to be paid on the efpos machine before you pay no matter if you want or not. The sales person told me to swipe my card so I won’t be charged the 3% credit card surcharge(I used my visa debit card to pay) but it turned out to be a lie. I clearly told them I don’t want to pay the surcharge. Unfortunately I did get charged anyway by using the payment method they recommended. Something to the customers: What I learnt from this unfortunate shopping experience is: Check the amount you paying carefully; if you use visa debit card don’t SWIPE just INSERT the card. Something to the owner: we earn our money the halal way; consider customers need whenever you deal with one; Admit the mistake made from your end and apologize sincerely. Very disappointed. I hope someone can teach them how to set their Efpos...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. I purchased steak and liver from this butcher just the other day. Despite being cooked properly by a skilled chef, both made me and my guest sick. The steak released 250ml of water (we weighed it), which I was told could indicate that it was old and water-injected. The liver wasn’t any better, it also made my guests very unwell.
As someone who specifically chooses halal butchers for religion, quality and health reasons (post-surgery), I expected far better. I was also under the impression that injecting water into meat is not halal, which raises even more concern.
If this is not done haram so inject water into the meat, my next question is what are they trying to hide?
That’s $70 completely wasted, I'm out of pocket and not to mention the risk to our health. I’ll be taking the remaining meat for testing and reporting this to the NZ food safety watchdog.
This was a serious mistake on my part—not going to the trusted butchers in Henderson or Mt Roskill. I won’t be...
