Little India Nelson — Restaurant in Nelson

The best Indian food outside of India!! What a wonderful find this lovely restaurant was. It was quite by accident. We were looking for somewhere still serving food after 8pm as we had arrived into Nelson late. Little India was the only place available. The menu was impressive! They cook everything from scratch with the freshest of natural ingredients. No msg or nasties!

The restaurant was full of happy diners when we arrived, all chatting and laughing together. Obviously a popular place to dine.

The restaurant is split level with different areas to sit, making dining feel more intimate.

We had the lamb korma, the butter chicken, the yoghurt raita, mango chutney, two delicious rice dishes, and the most scrumptious garlic naan bread (we ordered a second helping it was that good!). Honestly this meal was a taste sensation and by far the best Indian food I’ve eaten outside of India!

We were so hungry that we unfortunately hooked into our meals before I remembered to take any photos.

The owners who run the restaurant were so lovely and gave us great advice on the menu, as well as local knowledge and great sightseeing tips.

I highly recommend Little India for a weekend treat, or weeknight reprieve from cooking. Its clean, fresh, and hearty meals will leave you feeling nourished...

In all honesty - I frequent this place many many times, not only because of the absolutely delicious fresh food they provide but also the excellent service too! (I'm eating their takeaways as I write this haha) they have some amazing chef's in there I can tell you that!! Mani, his wife and the rest of his team are pretty much the nicest people in any restaurant I've ever met - I own a cafe myself so I understand how this industry can be busy, stressful and overwhelming - Just know that when you order food from here you are getting fresh, tasty high quality curry as well as the accompaniments that come with ie: (the Bhaji, Samosa (w/ Tamarind sauce), Tandoori etc) Yes, everybody has an opinion and yes there will always be the complainers out there (fair enough if you are genuinely dissatisfied with something) -its easy for unhappy people to hide behind their computer in order to leave a poor review if they feel the need to. I rang and placed an order at a different indian shop (i thought it was this one whoops) went into this store and gave my name, they didnt have it (obsioully) but told them what i ordered and they said they had it there (someone elses order) they asked if i ordered online i said no phone order (so they must of known i hadnt ordered there?)
