Junglerama — Local services in North Island

I own a catering business and had the pleasure of providing a birthday grazing table for a child last Saturday evening. On arrival at this venue we were rudely greeted by the large Māori lady who I assume was the manager by her authoritative bullying behaviour and instructions she gave out. We were told we couldn’t set up until 6pm even though the area we were setting up in was clean and ready to use, nobody in the area. We were told by the lady who hired us it was 5.30pm set up. The Manager lady was too busy looking at what we had in our catering food containers, she appeared anxious and angry due to the fact our customer had hired us and not their minimal fried menu, she made that clearly obvious by telling us she had charged our client an extra $100 for not hiring them to do their fast food. $700 just for the birthday venue area. 5 minutes later @ 5.25pm she said we could start setting up. Upon setting up the grazing table I asked a young woman who was vacuuming if I could plug in our microwave we brought in, she kindly showed me where the wall plug was and I proceeded to heat some of our food. Within minutes of me starting another large Māori lady appeared across the room, yelling at the young lady saying “ they’re not allowed to use that plug in the kitchen, get her out of there now” She looked really angry and I felt for the young woman who was now left in a predicament. I apologised to the young lady and thanked her for my 3 minutes of power used. While setting up we could see these 2 “Manager” women peering across the room watching what we were up to. Utterly disgraceful behaviour from the Manager and the other lady whose name we were told was “Vonz”. When we left we were rudely glared at and then again the Manager yelled at a 2nd young lady “follow them to their car and bring that trolley back”!!! Rude, obnoxious, no manners, I’m appalled at their behaviour and hope we never have to do another birthday function at this place. I would like to make a formal complaint and will do so through the local council this week. Nobody needs to be treated like this, these ladies are clearly bullies, not just to customers but to their staff as well. I would not recommend this place to anyone holding a birthday function as long as these ladies are working here. Went to a friend's birthday party today and another one of their guests had stepped out for awhile (for just 5 minutes) while the party was still ongoing. When they returned to reception saying they're just returning to the party, the rude receptionist mentioned they weren't allowed in even though my friend had already included them in the party package she availed.

My friend was screamed at and treated with hostility even as she was explaining calmly to that receptionist that they were her guests and should be granted access into their play area.

The receptionist words, not ours, "I've been working here for 12 years, go ahead and make a complaint."

Long story short, her guests weren't allowed in because they had stepped out even while the party was still ongoing. Her guests ended up going home - embarrassed and disappointed.

It's alarming that a staff such as her exist in a supposed 'kid-friendly' place. My friend's guests and their child were obviously traumatised.

But if staff like her are brave enough to say such things, it just simply means the company will not do anything to take any action. I'd love to see Junglerama do something about this. This is not New Zealand. Ya'll are disappointing. Google is kind enough to set their lowest to 1 star. You don't deserve any.
