I bought a small bag of sugar last week during a one off shop here, and only discovered (after paying for it) while putting it into the car that it was unsealed, so thought I'd pop in the next time I was going past to get it replaced - no brainer I assumed! I don't really like the idea of using a food product that someone else has potentially meddled with.
I should probably have gone back to the checkout straightaway, but I was in a rush to get home that day and didn't think it would be an issue to wait. Product issues with other supermarkets have never been a big deal to remedy. Anyway, I popped in 5 days after purchasing, and what I thought would be a 2 minute process turned into a big discussion between various staff, who then said they needed to check video footage to determine whether it was in fact open at the time of purchase!
I said I doubted they'd be able to tell, since it was still folded over when I bought it ā after all I hadnāt noticed when it was right in front of me. They came back with photos to 'prove' that it wasn't open by the way the checkout operator had stacked it - however it wasn't exactly upside down, so not sure how that proved anything. A folded over top would probably still stop sugar pouring out if on its side or upright I imagine?! I even tested it out on my benchtop, and.. no sugar leakage.
Long story short, they wouldn't refund me the $2.49 or replace the product. Unbelievable. Do they think I was trying to trick them into replacing a full bag of sugar with another full bag?? What happened to the customer being right? I'm stunned that they weren't willing to oblige a customer for the sake of $2.49, and the whole process made me feel like a criminal. Needless to say, it has left a bad taste and I now know that I canāt trust products...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a large amount of groceries at Takanini PakānSave, including some wine and beer. When I got to the checkout, I was asked for ID, which is fair enough, and I provided it. However, my partnerāwho was just tagging along while I did the shoppingāwas also asked for ID. He didnāt have it on him, so we were forced to give up all the alcohol, even though I was the one paying for it.
Why does it matter who is with me while I shop? If I were alone, I could have bought the alcohol without issue. My partner has grey hair and is clearly not underage, yet they still refused to sell it to me. Do parents shopping with their kids get asked for their childrenās ID? No. Itās a ridiculous policy, and if it happens again, Iāll leave my entire trolley behind and never return.
To make things worse, they also tried to change the price of an item while I was still in the store. When I got to the checkout, they tried to charge me full price instead of the sale price that had been clearly displayed on the wall. I refused and pointed out the sign, but the staff member tried to lie and asked, āWhen did you come into the shop?āātrying to act as if the sign had never been there while I was shopping. I told her, āI havenāt left the shop yet.ā Absolutely dishonest.
On top of that, my older mum got a part-time job there, expecting to work 2-3 days a week. Instead, they took advantage of her and made her work over 40 hours. She was so burnt out that she couldnāt continue working there. Disgusting.
Lastly, their customer service at the front desk is poor. Iāve had to wait for someone to acknowledge me while several staff members talk amongst themselves, avoiding...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my favourite paknsave to go to but something I just need to add to these reviews š I know thereās a lot of robberies going on these days and a lot of people walk out with fully trolleys. A few nights ago my partner & I went to go do our shopping, we had a trolley FULL! Our shopping total was just under $400. I realised that while the lady was scanning our items I looked over to the lotto area and seen two Pacific Islanders just staring at my partner 𤣠and not in that way, I mean staring in a way as in keeping an eye on him because he had a hoodie on and me - well Iāve worked in retail before, I use to get those whispers too ākeep an eye out for the people with the shades, hoodies etc etc onā once our shopping was done, my partner swipes w his eftpos card and then I see the faces of two nosy women who probably realised they shouldnāt have been staring like weirdos and realised they aināt millionaires lmao. Yes we can afford expensive groceries- donāt be staring at your own people thinking they canāt. It was pretty obvious when they should be standing where the lotto area is or somewhere else doing their job but their bodies were facing our way! Thatās okay though, if nothing has been said to our faces, we just walk off and mock them 𤣠MORAL TO THE STORY IS NOT EVERYONE THAT WEARS HOODIES STEALS!!!! THEY PROB EARN MORE THAN YOU!!!! šššš retail workers think theyāre better than everyone else most times, I use to work in the retail industry and Iāll tell you now, most useless job field Iāve ever worked in lol. Bye š¤š½ ps. Donāt stare at people for ages like that, it makes you look like...
