I bought my Winter Gardenz 2 x 3.8m glasshouse mid year 2020. I think I posted a review at the time but if I didn't, I should have. Delivery was as promised, assembly instructions clear and being made in Kumeu, NZ, the glass house was easy to put together and of fantastic quality.
I am prompted to write this review now, as I have had the glass house for a couple of years and would like to share my experience.
The glasshouse is as good as the day I bought it. Door, self opening vents etc working like new, no fading of the aluminum, joints tight, glass perfect, well would be if I cleaned it, etc etc. A1.
But this review would not be complete if I didn't mention the service. Because of the product quality I haven't really had any need to contact Winter Gardenz, only contacting them 3 times post purchase. The first time was because there was 1 small part missing. Delivered immediately and didn't hold up assembly. Second time was to purchase some hanging brackets. Done quickly and efficiently. And the third time was to order a self watering planter for the glass house. The service was simply outstanding particularly as this was right on Christmas, and the staff were already on holiday.
Shannon, one of the managers at Winter Gardenz, contacted me immediately, despite the fact that she was on break. She gave me an update and then to my surprise she organized for the product to be delivered to my home, despite the fact that I had said I would pick it up from them after the Christmas break. Outstanding service all round.
And just a quick comment on the self-watering planter. It is branded Waterups. Absolutely fantastic and compliments the glasshouse perfectly. I am growing tomatoes and lettuce in the first one that I bought approximately 6 weeks ago and the growth of the plants and quality of the fruit is beyond anything I have experienced in the past. If I hadn't seen it for myself I wouldn't have believed it. Check out Waterups online. Really worth the money.
So back to Winter Gardenz. If you are looking for a glasshouse of outstanding quality, support New Zealand Made and experience exceptional service then I strongly recommend the Winter Gardenz range.
And no, I don't work for Winter Gardenz and never have. I am retired and enjoy being out in the garden. Good to get out of the house from time to time. If you are married you will know what I mean.
Have a great day Steve...
Read moreWhen deciding which greenhouse to buy I quickly rejected the Chinese option from Trade Tested with the two year warranty, and priced up building my own from timber. However I couldn't build one for less than the price of buying one from Wintergardenz. Plus, it came with a 15 year warranty, which my home design definitely didn't - and mine was only single glazed.
How pleased I was that I bought the one I did from Wintergardenz. I have now owned it for several months and can confidently say it is the best thing that I have ever bought (other than the wedding ring of course).
Starting with the instructions, which are the clearest and most helpful that I have ever come across. Just take your time - I rushed it and had to remove a gutter that I had put in wrongly - and you will be delighted with the end result. There has clearly been a lot of thought put into the design and build. It easily fits together, using for the most part, the same T bolts that are easy to adjust, should you need to.
I initially did not purchase shelves, thinking that I would have to drill holes in the wall. I was wrong. The shelves fit onto the T bolts that slide into the frame. They are infinitely adjustable and quick and easy to install.
If you are buying one, definitely get the automatic windows as well. They are brilliant. You don't have to worry about your tender plants cooking in the sun or freezing in the cold, because you didn't have the time to open or close the windows. When it gets warm, the windows open. When it cools down the windows close. It's fantastic.
I went for 10 days to New Plymouth, when I came back all was well. This was partly down to my good wife, but also partly due to the rain and the automatic windows. There is a connection at the end of each gutter. I connected a pipe from the gutter into the greenhouse and when it rains the plants get watered.
I used the greenhouse initially mainly for growing seedlings to put into the garden. This is the first year that every bit of my quarter acre has been full of plants.
Finally, the staff at Wintergardenz are just wonderful. It seems like nothing is too much trouble. I have never owned a greenhouse before and was not sure about a number of things. They have been incredibly helpful and come across as really good people.

Read moreYour glasshouse has transformed the look of our backyard. It is now our go to place for coffee and an evening wine. It gets us out of the wind as we are coastal west facing. It has withstood some mighty big gale force winds already and it does it without even blinking. Previously in this spot was the 2m high fence with vine and a garden shed. I removed the shed and cut back a lot of the fence for the view. The glasshouse is half conservatory and half veggie and tomato garden. We have been astounded how well and big everything grows compared to the existing raised garden outside and alongside. Our lettuces are huge. We also have tomato plants growing outside and they are half the size and yield.
We had lots of fun putting it up. Lots of stories that would make you laugh (at us) but the best was we didn’t have all the room on each side to slide the roof panels up. On one side we had to cut down the 2m long raised garden bed to get enough angle but we had a garden shed in the way for a corner pane and on the other side I had kept a fence corner to protect the entrance from wind. We overcame this by sliding in the panes from the side . I changed the designated position of two vents to allow me to only have to slide in from the side, up a ladder, the shorter panes. It all worked well. My wife and I love sitting on the swing together at some time everyday whilst she is on holiday. This is the best room in our house haha.
