The Green Grocer — Restaurant in Rodney

The soup advertised on the blackboard outside looked good. Went inside, asked for soup & got a few other things. Paid. No soup. Asked again, and had to pay again. Sat in my car outside waiting for the burning hot soup to cool. The not particularly friendly person who served me walked outside & turned the blackboard around to read "Car park in front is short term car parking for Green Grocer customers" or something like that. Um, no it's not. You're not the Council & you don't get to choose who parks outside your shop & for how long. There are no Council signs to indicate that car parks outside your shop are for your customers only. Rude. And I'm sorry, but every time I've been in here over the years the staff are somehow disconnected, really quiet & unsmiling. Different people, same atmosphere. It's a cool shop with cool things, but the cold customer service...

I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome in this establishment. I don’t often leave reviews and I don’t have high expectations with over the top friendly service or anything excessive but basic manners is something I would expect in a hospitality and/ or retail environment. It was not busy and I was the only person in the shop and it felt like my presence was a hassle. It was rude and bizzare. I didn’t try the coffee and my food was warmed up but still cold in some parts, it was nice though. I didn’t feel comfortable asking for it to be heated more based on the mood of the owner or person working there. Food looked nice and great to have GF options but I don’t think I will be back to try more...

This place is a national treasure. That’s no joke! The food is to die for, the cakes are out of this world, the quiche is melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness!! I just had the raspberry coconut cake with cream cheese icing and cried happy tears, was sooo yummy !! The service is always fab, I have great chats and ya’ll the owner is a legend, she’s just laid back and chill, you need to realise how epic her food is and the love she puts into making it for you to enjoy! Eat the cake - feel the love - don’t judge ! This place is soo phenomenal! I go atleast once a week and have NEVER been disappointed! My only sadness is finishing my food and wishing I had gotten more! 💗😊 YOU GOTTA GO...
